    @krathoon I agree. This season is far away from what Doctor Who truly was.

    @krathoon because she’s remembering only her previous memory of the Time Window & her previous memories of looking at the VHS. We’ve learned, in the last 10+ years, that when we think we recall a fact or a memory that really we’re remembering HOW we remembered it last. But recall now how the Doctor LET wishes into the universe. This is signi…[Read more]

    @krathoon I’m not sure the episodes hinged on Ruby remembering anything as a baby. She has the VHS tape. She went to the time window where they could see who else was there & to closely see if she could describe who her mother was -as in clearly describe or draw. UNIT would have sufficient information to be able to create a composite of this p…[Read more]

    @mudlark Ha! Well, given the choice between engaging in collective and convivial bonkerizing, and the dubious charms of coming up with script ideas that would guarantee sufficient viewing numbers to satisfy the suits at Disney+, I vote in favour of doing just what we have been doing and enjoying on this wonderful site for the last decade (can it…[Read more]

    Thought I’d do a recap ahead of the two-part finale.

    What needs clearing up:

    1. Who is Ruby’s mother / mysterious woman wh…

    I actually said The Timeless Children might as well have been written in crayon… it seems pointless to observe the absorbaloff was more entertaining and believable.

    I thought the glimpse in Rogue of a certain thesp who once worked with the actor who played 8 changed the narrative on the snow… and especially in rel…[Read more]

    The Rani. Hmm. Had not thought of her, but someone with a bright red fingernail did pick up the Toymaker’s gold tooth containing the Master at the end of “The Giggle”…

    @krathoon

    I had a similar theory, namely that the entire season is in some kind of fictional world.

    And, as I have also posted elsewhere, I am also offering up the return of Omega as the One Who Waits.

    @mudlark

    I’ve never thought your writing was old fashioned. Your postings on here have a mellifluous quality, and are always well considered.

    the zygons could also disappear upon shuffling from this mortal but that was because the boss zygon made it happen.
    I doubt if RTD will explain it, but who knows? Im not sure how ‘daughter’ from the Family of Blood could be trapped in a mirror, or her brother become a scarecrow to protect Britain. Unless he’s the one pumping chick…[Read more]

    Yes! that struck me as well. I assume it was that they did not want to distract from the surprise of Tennant. But I also wondered if there was a gendered assumption that the audience could not cope with a male Doctor appearing in the clothes of a female Doctor. I hope not

    @dentarthurdent. Did you watch Babylon five? It is certainly divisive. A lot of people just didn’t warm to it but those who got through season one or skipped season one and started watching season two, (like me) are devoted fans. It has plenty of humour too, great characters, now antique CGI some very wobbly scipts and acting but once it gets into…[Read more]
