EW! The Bloomsbury Group and the Doctor. How to make such a script work? With Virginia and
Vita and all the other Bloomies? Maybe Ashildr/Me disguised as 1 of them? In fact, after writing
all those journals thru the centuries I bet Me could write a fairly good novel.
I’d like to see something like that 🙂
16 December 2015 at 03:14 #49456Don’t know if anyone previously mentioned this idea here so I will put it out although its
not mine (its from Reddit) but I like it. The Tardis that Clara has now was returned by
her at her end just before she goes to face the Raven. So she returns to Galifrey and that’s
when she meets the 1st Doctor and directs him to steal the same “knackered” Tardis all over
again. The Moffat loop!
I bet that’s been already posted someplace on the thread by one of you clever people but I didn’t
catch it.
Also, probably already mentioned wondering why Clara couldn’t try to clone herself ?
Whether or not her immortal condition still remains intact then it might be a way to get
around the Raven?
I also got 1 more crazy idea that Rassilon could be the Doctor’s son in law? If the Doctor didn’t
steal the President’s wife but his daughter then Susan could be that daughter. In which case
Rassilon could be Susan’s dad and this could be all in the family ? Talk about a dysfunctional
family! 🙂
14 December 2015 at 03:14 #49406I agree that the Doctor lacks diplomacy skills. That’s where his companions can assist him
with cue cards or whatever. But he never lets that get in his way and is always a step ahead.
I can’t equate that with a lack of empathy. Seems to me he has buckets of empathy.
It drives his choices but its not always critical to his success. He’s still the alpha leader.
He still manipulates the action and he’s positively confident and clever.
Yes, he’s definitely agitated because Clara isn’t getting a pulse and Clara had in a previous
episodes opportunities to learn her way around the sonics so she may have been able
to ‘reverse’ the neural blocker? Also think that he has in every episode surprised us with
his strategies. To me that implies great misdirecting.
But that’s just my way of seeing it.
13 December 2015 at 21:45 #49389Actually agree with you about how Asildr grew into a tidal wave. Missy
more than likely also tried to use her against the Doctor just like she did
with Clara. Me became pivotal to trapping the Doctor..
Actually I bet they will have a meet up with some other Doctors. There
might be some more saving in other Doctor timelines.
Maybe with some previous or future companions too.
13 December 2015 at 20:50 #49387I meant to say ‘changed the whole equation for the Doctor’ on the
last line on previous post . 🙂
13 December 2015 at 20:18 #49386With you on seeing Capdoc hang around for a very long time ! TomDoc is also a big
favorite of mine.
and
@jphamlore @ichabod @pedant @juniperfish
@puroandson
“The obsessional bond had to be broken” is a post I’ve read here.
If I may push back gently and suggest that perhaps when the Doctor realized that Clara’s
heart would not beat again we saw he became agitated and plan B kicked in. Why? I believe
its because he felt in that moment “his duty of care” to Clara could continue with out end and would
leave him in a very compromised state . So he felt compelled at this point to revise his plan.
Also, he knew he needed to make the 2 devices available to Clara because they would
still be pivotal tools in his plan . But he had to do it in such a way that looked irrelevant
to her. So he tossed them away but still easily accessible and I think he managed to do that
expertly. I think that’s his style. Misdirection is a superpower of his (and Missy’s too)
I could be jumping to conclusions but that was my interpretation. I might add that he
chose to take the sacrifice because if Clara has a normal life span it would be probably
like Clara growing old in Last Christmas. However now Clara is immortal and that changed
the equation.
12 December 2015 at 22:01 #49347Thanks for sharing your meanderings on the Graun! Great post. I have a question.
If we think Clara got pregnant then when ? Because after dead would be too weird so when
did that opportunity occur? Also, I’m one of the folks that is convinced that the Doctor
went for plan B as soon as he realized Clara had no pulse . He left both the sonic
sunglasses and the mind wiper devices on the console on purpose. He totally
knew what he was doing. He planned so both he and Clara could move on.
Very cool and clever Tardis ancroynom too!
Like your idea about the Matrix using the Doctor as its personal explorer. I was
wondering if there is a satellite link between the Matrix and Tardis? *Televised Access
to Running Doctor In Space*? ( Couldn’t help myself)
11 December 2015 at 21:46 #49288I was also thinking about Asylum of the Daleks too. I remember in some forum
both SM and Capdoc were asked which companion they would bring back and
both of them simultaneously said Clara. Still totally agree that there will be a build
up going in some new direction. At the same time will Capdoc still be feeling
consequences? Was it @jphamlore that memtioned PTSD? Well if the mindwipe
worked on only the emotions and not the memories that may have resolved ? So yes,
I’m expecting a different temperament from the Doctor however is he thru with all
broader politics of what has happened to him?
But you could be totally right. 🙂
11 December 2015 at 20:30 #49285Quite honestly, I’ve been wondering about whether the Clara ‘thing’ will bleed into
season 10? In fact, to my mind it might continue to be an influence until this Doctor
regenerates. I’m willing to bet that Jenna and Maisie might take time to insert
themselves again into this arc. . I expect more of several other characters like
Missy, Ohila and/or possibly Rassilon too? My thinking is that if SM isn’t completely
done with this arc. He gets season 10 to keep playing around with it but also transitions
us into new territory. That’s the way he introduced us all into the Clara story. Lots of side
stories until she became the main event.
10 December 2015 at 21:29 #49240http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/capaldi-would-happily-make-more-episodes-each-year-78958.htm
Hard to believe my all time favorite TV show is almost done for the season !
SADNESS 🙁
9 December 2015 at 02:31 #49117@Morpho
So my take is that Missy was sent to Earth on a mission. She had that big Matrix ball
thing which implies to me she had backing of TL’s with conditions. The confession dial
fell in to her lap so to speak? Then she probably modified it or Rasillon did and set up the
trap street. She is after all unhinged so this makes sense. 🙂
When you said “Clara tracking him down’ there I’m confused about your meaning.
8 December 2015 at 23:34 #49101Yes I can see that too about the energy bolts. Didn’t Simm/Master prematurely age the Doctor in
Sound of the Drums.
and
It seems to me Missy gets something out of this more than just a tortured Doctor. She wouldn’t
just hand the Dial over without compensation. Her new regeneration was part of some other ‘trade deal’
so I wonder what she asked for?
“madness and obsession from the inside” – yes! So when the Doctor takes a new companion he wont
want to find himself in emotional limbo again. He might now be all about choosing someone that doesn’t
have “you might be manipulated thru me’ written on their resume.
8 December 2015 at 03:15 #49040Don’t forget that the coordinates Missy gave the Doctor were correct in space. Just not in time.
She didn’t lie to the Doctor about where Galifrey was except for timeframe. So how did she know?
To me this implies collusion with the TL’s and Rassilon too.
8 December 2015 at 02:58 #49039I’ve been wondering if Rassilon will come to Earth and start meddling around like
Missy does? I think it was a real mistake for the Doctor to let him leave.
Even surprising.
BTW I don’t see why hinting that the Doctor is part human by SM is so troubling.
I personally feel having that connection of a hybrid between 2 planets is a terrific idea
and it in no way diminishes the Doctor for me. Who nose how it might end up but I
have an open mind about it just like I’ve done about the gender switches.
Just saying SM……….
8 December 2015 at 02:27 #49036This is about writing the script for Face the Raven and the surprise of Clara’s end
For all the writers on the forum
7 December 2015 at 22:20 #49019The Zygon Osgoods were a little bit different for me. I saw them as a total blending
if you will of the Human Osgood. The Doctor is the Doctor and can’t assimilate Clara.
7 December 2015 at 22:01 #49015I like your idea about the Tardis settings very much!! I thought maybe
Clara chose that place for the Doctor since he had spent time previously
with his ‘Earth’ family in it so therefore it might give to him some subliminal
comfort? Your take of morphing into a relatable concept is terrific!
7 December 2015 at 21:19 #49012@Morpho
Exactly. This was collusion between Missy and Rassilon! I’m optimistic
that story arc continues. All the more reason to delete his feelings
about Clara since that seemed to be rolling up into a liability I imagine in his view?
I understand that now. 1 reason why we keep seeing a chess game at least
once each season. To support the fact of this gamesmanship. He couldn’t let Missy
continue to use Clara as a pawn obviously.
7 December 2015 at 20:27 #49003@Morpho
Oh yes! Those are great remarks M.
He had to deal at some point with the extreme emotions, The aches and
pains from the moods and thoughts of Clara ‘always in his head’. So in the
end he deleted all that. Chose his TL nature. He has had to make that
choice before. With Rose and with the nurse in ‘Family of Blood’.
it’s a sad choice every time.
7 December 2015 at 19:36 #489991 more thought. I think the Doctor also knew he had to bring Clara back to heal/fix himself.
What if he thought Galifrey was on the other side of the crystal wall? Not the Tardis? He
seemed to suggest that when he spoke to Rassilon? Maybe? Not totally sure. But that implies
to me that he knew even when inside the Dial trap that if he got out he could use the TL’s in
dealing with some Clara business. He completely played the TL’s to get to her by manipulating
their ‘hybrid’ weakness. I could see looking back on season 9 that his body language and even
a few comments were thrown out hinting at that.
He totally remembers her.
In so far as their mindsets at least now they are both in a healthier place.
7 December 2015 at 19:11 #48997@Morpho @avaris @ichabod @ozitenor
Ok so this is my bonkers thinking.. I think this reinforces the notion that the Doctor
might have a bit of Human in his DNA? Because just like in the episode when Amy
uses the shock box to revive the 11th ( in Power of 3?) I think that was working on his more
human of his 2 hearts. Now recall the setting on the mind wiper was human. Therefore,
I can imagine this device only deleted the human ish feelings from his more human heart?
Remember Missy told Clara in the Magicians Apprentice something to the effect that TL’s
are above all that emotional angst human thing and they value friendships. Maybe its just not
in their DNA? I believe that the Doctor knew what he was doing. He remembered everything!
Except! The emotional impact that plagued the more human heart over Clara. I know that sounds
so romantic novel. Ugh! Yeah. LOL
However, I totally believe the Doctor set this up for it to shake out this way. Really do!
Now they both can continue on. He doesnt feel the ‘obsession’ any more. He purged himself
of that part. And Clara and Me as Thelma and Louise driving over cliffs! Me gets the adrenaline
rush thing from the Mire and Clara came out of the Doctors time stream tainted with Doctor.
She became like him. Including that craving for adventures. IMHO that’s why ‘runners’ run.
So glad that at the end Clara wrote on the chalkboard (SM added) the message –
‘RUN you clever boy’ AND ‘ be the DOCTOR’ .
Yes! He totally remembers her. I just simply know this is so.
7 December 2015 at 04:10 #48924Conspiracy theory after watching HB tonight
The Doctor left the sonic glasses on the console on purpose knowing Clara
would watch on the screen, He also left the mind wiper there. He set it up?
He figured out that he had to part from Clara. So was he making it easier for
her? Seems to me that he really didn’t loose a lot of his memory. I really get
that feeling. The Doctor lies. Again.
7 December 2015 at 00:49 #48886So now the Doctor is again Lord President. Also President of Earth. Lots of commuting !
Anyway, already curious about the next season and what other unfinished
business from this season may be continued. Maybe Missy’s very clever idea?
I cant see many clues to any of that but I am wondering where SM wants to
go now with his Doctor adventures?
6 December 2015 at 21:24 #48866I do hope there will be a new Rassilon story sooner or later. More Missy too please.
As for Clara, she will be back at the very least when its time for 12’s regeneration.
In the meantime there is a book coming out soon about Ashidr/Me’s travels and
I bet Clara is in many of the chapters. Also, Clara was an English teacher and loved writers
so I can imagine a few chapters will be about meeting some of those writers including Jane
Austen ?
6 December 2015 at 05:10 #48777Like your lists
well done Clara theory
So this was mostly to tie up the Clara story arc . I was actually hoping for more ties to some
of the other mythologies. So I was a bit underwhelmed because I had been hopeful for that.
But I did enjoy this. It was a better departure for Clara than immediate death by raven. I wasn’t
very impressed with new Rassilon. I don’t think old Rassilon would have been so easily deposed.
It will never be the same going to eat in a diner again.
5 December 2015 at 18:24 #48709Anxious to see the finale!!! Particularly the scenes with the Doctor and Me. Well,
and all the rest too. I wonder if just maybe there is a small chance that Me was
going by the pseudonym Penelope Gates during her life in the Victorian era?
(A hint from the novelizations)
4 December 2015 at 21:26 #48644Why were you thinking that about Cloister wars and the 1st Doctor? I’m not
a before gap expert but I think perhaps not? But it is interesting that Missy
might have been implying a new status in her relationship with the Doctor
since the Cloister wars. The Wraiths sound like they are a ‘special ops’ sort
of force to protect the TL’s? Also, I like the idea of either a Claricle as part of the
Tardis or a Wraith version helping the Doctor and taking him where he needs to go.
4 December 2015 at 20:30 #48638I take your point. But to the extent that they might both be the remains of a previous state
was what I was thinking too? The Dalek goo seemed to still have unusual Dalek instincts
and I am looking forward to seeing these Wraiths !
4 December 2015 at 15:23 #48632Wtraiths would be to TL’s what the gooey remains in the Dalek sewers are?
The Me on Galifrey may be a future version and also the Presidents wife?
Cloister wars? Were they happening simultaneously with the Time wars?
3 December 2015 at 21:12 #48591I respect that view but cant share it. I think any opportunity to lay out
the speech’s perspective is good. I’m concerned that people can
never hear often enough that we need to try to redirect our tantrums. It may have
a small impact? Maybe this is an unorthodox way to send a message? But its
still a good a message and worth thinking about. Especially because of what is going
on now in the news.
Sorry Mods!! meant to post on the Fox page 🙁
3 December 2015 at 21:03 #48590Definitely some possible truths! I like a lot of your contentions. I need to
go thru your post again and do another re think 🙂
3 December 2015 at 18:28 #48585Just watched the newly posted trailer. Sliders and Wraiths down in the depths of the
matrix oh my!
Been wondering if that inspiring “cruelty begets cruelty’ -“this is not a game’ speech
the Doctor made to bring peace between the humans and zygons in the ‘Inversion’ episode
will come into play for the finale? I liked seeing those political undertones. So maybe this
is a opportunity to reinforce that lesson . Can the Doctor remain consistent about that in
spite of his anger issues with the TL’s?
3 December 2015 at 01:42 #48549@Morpho
The fact that the Dial was to me basically a software program I’m therefore looking
at ‘home’ as meaning homepage just like on your computer. It helps me to
think of it this way. BTW, I’ve spoken English all my life but still cant write
properly in it so I wouldn’t get very upset over a single (or more) typos 😉
I cant see Me as the architect, She may be villainess but it seems to me
that whatever issues she has with the Doctor its still suspicious that in
pursuit of personal revenge she would inventsuch a very sophisticated
trap on behalf of another party?
It just seems weird to me.
1 December 2015 at 23:19 #484701 December 2015 at 21:36 #48462Judgment sounds excellent!
I’m afraid I lost track a bit of the Tarot tracking 🙁 But I did find it fascinating!
Seems to me that folks/aliens are predisposed to having survival instincts. And yes.
You need that motivating force. Maybe its even another superpower?
1 December 2015 at 21:10 #48460@Minime
I think he pulled out the stone as a way to keep track of how long he had before the Veil
would catch up to him?
1 December 2015 at 20:36 #48456That is a good point! It would had to occur before Galifrey got frozen in time.
But it may be possible. So she could potentially be someone’s mother? The one that
created the hybrid?
Also, maybe she was the woman holding her head in her hands to Rassilon’s side in the “End
of Time”
1 December 2015 at 19:29 #484511 December 2015 at 19:29 #48450Yes. I take your point and yet strangely it lacks that same magicalness. 😉
On the other hand there is plenty of intrigue and horrors of war madness.
Still, if the environment keeps disintegrating we may get our own domes?
But in the sense that TL tech suggests in some far future that at the rate we
are moving forward all the impossible tech that we see in this show will be integrated
1 December 2015 at 18:22 #48440The Dial as a portal. Similar in many ways to the time when Donna got caught
up into CAL? The Dial as a computer hard drive seems interesting too. So where did Donna’s
body go in that episode? That’s the bit we aren’t told.
I think I saw this mentioned previously ? TL magic is all the computer created.
Sometimes I get to wondering if this show is a prediction ? I like that about sci-fi.
The books tv movies. I can imagine we are the future Galifreyans too .
1 December 2015 at 16:13 #48433Read your recent post and I agree with you on the notion that Missy’s ‘very clever idea’
was to manipulate the dial and configure it into a trap for the Doctor. A mini version of
her Matrix made solely for him. Possibly came from trapping Clara in the Dalek? She had to have
known about ME since she has been travelling along the Doctor’s timeline so she forced
Me to be her confederate in the ‘trap’.
If Missy is the TL’s confederate then I’m trying to work out the why she would create
the trap in such a way to make it so difficult. But then in the past she hasn’t been very nice to
the Doctor either.
1 December 2015 at 03:43 #48383@puroandson
The quote comes from this trailer
I envy those with good memories! Good memories are definitely a superpower! 🙂
Your theory gets my endorsement . I saw that too.
1 December 2015 at 01:07 #48366Well as the 2 are probably together now in NZ hopefully they will be working something out?
fingers crossed !
30 November 2015 at 23:58 #48354Quote “the hybrid will stand in the ruins of Galifrey and destroy a billion hearts to heal ‘HIS’ own.”
I think the hybrid is the Doctor. He’ll find himself on Galifrey around the same time
that the crack occurred which makes 12 on the Galifrey side and 11 on the Trenzalore side.
The TL possibly getting a new regeneration in the trailer could be the Master into Missy, Maybe?
Then thru the crack she goes?
Having said all that so far my prediction track record has been very iffy at best and I usually get
just a few little bits around the edges right.
30 November 2015 at 23:27 #4835230 November 2015 at 22:57 #48346Home InvasionThis was an interesting weekend…
Posted by Peter Jackson on Sunday, 29 November 2015click on where it says ‘Home Invasion” – you will all like this !
30 November 2015 at 01:42 #48276Well in my humble opinion this was something that all happened inside his mind
and if that is the case the Doctor is still roughly the same age. The crystal wall at the
end of the puzzle wasn’t effected by the rest of his journey getting to it probably
because whoever it was that put this scheme together probably thought that
wall was impermeable enough which of course it turned out to be the weak link.
I’m not suggesting that Clara in the Doctor’s head makes him the hybrid. I think
that goes back to the whole 8th Doctor half human thing. I put a post up on the
spoilers page @Janette if you want to see that.
@puroandson
Put some of your lavender inside your socks after you have ironed them. Just for fun 🙂
I really like the 3 part concept and it feels a lot like the serial concepts of before gap Who.
30 November 2015 at 01:14 #48266I also like how the Doctor communicated with Clara to find a resolution and
how this episode gave a new meaning to ‘run you clever boy and remember me’.
30 November 2015 at 00:17 #4825929 November 2015 at 23:01 #48249Previously in this season we had the Doctor using Beethoven to explain the boot strap
paradox and here we are watching the Doctor in this time loop with Beethoven playing
in the back round. This just reinforces for me the idea that this was all happening as
a time trap imposed inside his mind. It was the same time looping over and over not
extending thru out centuries. He was able to finally break thru by chipping away
at the point that focused on bringing him ‘home’ albeit the long way round. Just like
the Bird in the Grimm story.
