@vickymallard   You have to watch The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances two part episode from the 9th Doctor’s time. These episodes introduce  Captain Jack who then travels in the Tardis with the Doctor and Rose through the series. It will explain a lot about Jack and it is excellent.Have fun!
