Oh deat me! How embarrassing! Had I read all the posts I wouldn’t have made such an ass of myself.
Over time, I’ve come not to trust our Doctor, he lies and some things don’t work on him. He could have been trying to spare Clara, whilst she was trying to spare him – grief. We’re dealing with time here, so who nose?
Anyway, you do have a point and I thank you for being kind. *grins*
One thing I can promise all of you who care, I shall watch and comment (should I feel the need) every episode of 10 as they air. None of this tormenting myself rubbish, I miss too much on here.

With luck this hasn’t been mentioned. there are so many posts and I haven’t always got the time to read all of them.

My point/question.
Does anyone feel that when the Doctor is in the cafe, telling the young waitress (Clara) all about his latest adventures, that he knows damn well the young woman behind the counte IS Clara.
In short, I don’t think he forgot her at all, but is simply letting her go. She couldn’t stay with him anyway, basically she’s dead and to stop her feeling sad, he lets her think that she managed to wipe herself from his memory? *thinks, take a breath!*

I remember in Dark Water, when she tried to stick that dream pad thingy on his neck, he said. “Do you really think that would work on me?”

Any thoughts?

Yes – TWICE! And I need to see it again. It’s definitely my favourite of the last six episodes, although the other five are marvellous.
The first words he speaks about the shadow, then when he emerges from the capsule wotumacallit, ending : “And I’ll never ever stop”
Just something about the way his voice deals with those lines, brings me out in goose pimples. Not to mention the superb plot. Is there no end to SM’s genius?
Delighted that my post has encouraged you to watch again.
I seem to have found my purpose in life. *big, big grin*

@puroandson “I suspect, though, that the Stupids have won and want all episodes to be like Blink or The Family of Blood. I loved them actually -Paul Cornell did a pretty good job in that Human Nature two parter. Mainly, though, the Doctor ran, cried, sobbed, snogged and talked (fast).”

As did I puroandson – didn’t like The Flesh though.

I’ve adored Capaldi’s neat and focussed Doctor. Others maybe haven’t and I’m fine with that. Well, actually I want to kill them but the better half of the Hybrid aint in so I’m posting this anyway. 🙂

Forget the rest in cluding B. Cumberbatch, he would be fantastic, but he’s too busy and has always made it clear, when asked, that he’d never play the Doctor – perhaps a villain? (He didn’t say that, I did) He can’t play Sherlock AND the Doctor.

My choices would be:

Kris Marshall.

No females please and keep it British. *thumbs up* Our American friends have enough Scifi of their own. *big grin*

As for companions (female) almost anyone but Maisie williams – but then again, perhaps she’d grow on me? Besides, she’s on a Tardis with Clara isn’t she?

Me too. Sleep no more was the least enjoyable.

All I wish is that the media would get their facts straight.

First off the BBC are dropping SM for CC.
Then they are going to axe DW altogether.
Then the new DW could be some chap called Richard Madden, because the new Doc should be – get this – sexier? Don’t like the look of him at all btw.
All this after the complaint that this DW 9, is more for adults than children?
So, the next Doc may be ‘sexy” – perfect for kids!!!!!!!!

Have just read your post re: Lawyers etc. Obviously it works for Americans, but seems unnecessarily complicated to me.

As far as I know, we have Barristers (as you say taken from “The Bar”) who fight in court – silks – all of whom have different preferences. Some murder, some tax invasion etcetera. Solicitors are who one goes to first. They advise the Barrister on your behalf.

I thought so, how very confusing. In the old days – according to Dickens – ‘lawyer’ was used instead of Barrister.

It was possibly changed to Barrister and Soliciter to avoid confusion. Unfortunately I never know which is which in American programmes.

Hello there and welcome.

Re: “I usually go with the credits. When a person is listed in the opening credits, to me, that makes them a companion, even if it’s just for one episode, like Wilfred Mott in “The End of Time” or Craig Owens in “Closing Time”.

Adam, played by Bruno Langley, was the boy genius In DALEK and THE LONG GAME, therefore appeared in the credits

twice. The TARDIS, was his only way out of Van Statten’s underground complex, but he wasn’t a companion.

Captain Jack, wanted to travel with the Doctor, but also had his own agenda.

Sarah Jane, also appeared in about four episodes (I believe) but again, she wasn’t a companion.

Kate Lethbridge Stewart/Stuart, also appeared in the credits, but I don’t think she even entered the Tardis.

ME, definitely wasn’t a companion.

Rose, Martha, Donna and Clara, who were in every episode and adventure are- to my mind – the true companions,

they had the Tardis key.

Anyway, that’s how I see it, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t see what you are getting at.

The Brigadier had UNIT to run and River spent most of her days in prison.

My understanding of a companion, is one who travels with the Doctor all the time, every episode,

until they leave him.

Hello there, a pleasure to greet another senior citizen and paid up to date, almost fanatical Whovian.
I was bginning to feel lonely.
Like you, after THoRS I went straight to “Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead.”
Unlike you, series 8 shone, it was bold and brilliant. Now the 9mpossible, series 9 burns even brighter.
Also like yourself, I’ve been watching DW from 2005 onwards, relishing the difference between Doctors and performances. I actusally watched the very first DW in 1963 and never missed an episode from then on.
Peter Capaldi has taken the shine off the aforementioned – not much, just a touch. If only he’d been the Doctor earlier.
Still, we must be grateful for small mercies, and to comment on everything you’ve posted would take time, so I’ll leave that to others.
In the meantime, can you even imagine a life without the Doctor? I can’t and don’t want to, it’s flippin’ wondeful.
