    @scaryB

    When did the TARDIS become infected? Let’s assume it was in Wild Blue Yonder,

    That seems to me very much the most likely occasion – see my earlier post in response to @markkelly. It’s just about possible the Meep brought it earlier, depending on the identity of the ‘boss’ referred to. It might be worth re-watching that episode to check if…[Read more]

    Psychic manifestation, I’d say absolutely. In the trailer for this ep STriad was all “they’re using my face”,  which must be a line in part 2 seeing as it wasn’t in The Legend.

    All part of the AI theme: face hacking, deepfakery, identity theft.

    Which leads me into more Doctor musing!

    Interested in the orange connection…[Read more]

    @scaryB you mentioned “psychic manifestation”…. & I think you’re onto something there… I was remembering how Ruby’s playing the keys; a goblin causes feedback (nice pun RTD) & S Triad yells out “oi” & asks for Gaudete. Mmm. She’s 2 people in 2023/4.

    I join @blenkinsopthebrave  and @scaryB in thanking you, @craig  for opening this thread. It has prompted me to go to iPlayer and start a re-watch – so far just the first two episodes. It must be more than a decade since I last saw it, on some obscure TV channel, and it’s good to be reminded of the details.

    If I was being judgemental I would s…[Read more]

    Ruby and Carla have already scanned that VHS tape VERY closely – but they never saw a police box materialise and the Dr come out, or the woman turn and point etc…

    Maybe I’m mistaken, but I thought that the raw CCTV footage didn’t show the Tardis because the camera was facing in the wrong direction. What they did was to use the the VCR rec…[Read more]

    Yes, the cloaked figure may well be Old Ruby in a timey whimey way @scaryB !

    interesting that in Rogue, Ruby was very nearly trapped & I wonder if this is signalling at least one possible future out of all the time streams or multiverses. Is time collapsing in certain timestreams? Are tiny decisions, the ones we regularly make every day, leading…[Read more]

    Yes, this is juicy! ScaryB, yes, something is very odd about Ruby -Maestro says “she has music hidden in her soul…. This creature is VERY wrong. And HE can’t have been there that night!”
    @unitpicker “she could of course be the real Susan.” Oh yes! That’s most intriguing.

    Just rewatching… What about Kate testing DNA and saying ‘Just because Susan Triad is nice, doesn’t mean she can’t change. A chrysalis doesn’t know it’s a butterfly. A phoenix is just a bird until it burns.’

    Is that a hint… As you said, baaaad Doctor?

    It was actually the Moff who originally came up with the idea for the episode and suggested it to RTD a good many years ago, but they decided at the time that the budget wouldn’t stretch to realising the necessary FX. Maybe Asimov’s stories were an influence*, but I agree with @scaryB, that what they probably had in mind was a certain…[Read more]

    Hugging… I refer you again to Azimov’s ‘Elijah Bailey’ stories… especially the first two: ‘Caves of Steel’ and ‘The Naked Sun’. @scaryb That is really sad news. He was wonderful in the early Hartnell episodes, and a wonderful companion in the context of the early 1960s. When I first started watching the show at the age of 12 when the show began I always felt he was the type of school teacher I wish I had.
