@whohar Sure there is Matt, even in several scenes. Especially his voice – from ROA. But they are all there: 9, 10, 11 and Hurt. As well as Clara and Rose. Have you even watched all of it? ;D

    Hey guys!

I just found this fan made trailer on youtube and I think it sums up nicely the indicates towards the time war (sorry I have no clue how to not embed it- if somebody has a slow browser) :

It also hints at the Moment. I really think we will see the Moment in the 50th. Ever since I thought of it upstream in post #19155.

@mini-htpbdets thats a great idea of your uncle! A new batch of possibilities. So the name is like a trophy and different Timelords carry the name for a period of time. Properly bonkers theorising.
How very true “your time starts now”. Great thought one tends to forget.

Again my condolences to HTPBDETs whole family.

Okay, what is 11 doing inside a zygon ship then? I feel like we really have not come close to the storyline at all.

Though I do hope that I have some “we knew it, we knew it!” moments when watching the actual thing.

The first picture is most interesting. Which civilization is it? Timelord, Dalek (don’t think so), Zygon maybe? Anyone ever seen anything like that button before?

I totally blocked Rose out of the 50th. Gah, I bet she and 10 will act very affectionate towards each other in every shared scene….

    Good stuff anyway @wolfweed !

Just a quick update on the cinema situation (Might be interesting for you to see how Doctor Who manages in different countries. If you have any figures for your country I’d love to hear ’em)
There is a surprisingly huge demand for Doctor Who in Germany. My cinema hall was sold out in round about 12 hours and they had to open another cinema hall to compensate the demand in at least 6 different cities. One of the cinema chains added various further locations. The two cinema chains which will show Doctor Who on the 23rd were bombarded on Facebook with questions (some IT problems with online sales).

It is safe to say the demand quite flabbergasted everyone. As a side note: Someone on Facebook suggested TARDIS-blue popcorn and they said they’d think about it! =)

I’d really love to know how the sales are going in the UK, Australia, Canada, the USA…?

    Cheers,

I didn’t read your link because I don’t want to be disappointed in any case on the 23rd- Funny though that it references ‘The Moment’ as well! That is what I came up with as the big bad secret of the Doctor…. “The doctor has a secret he will take to the grave. It is discovered.” Would mean that ‘The Moment’ is somewhere in that dying TARDIS.
There is really no other thing that the Doctor knows alone(as far as the viewer knows anyway), I figured. A terrible weapon that got him soaked in blood if he built and used it… And one that the Silence do not want to fall into the wrong hands?? I cannot shake the feeling that Moffat has to address the Silence again… He wrapped up quite a lot in TNOTD so he will continue his tabula rasa in  TDOTD…. right?

@bluesqueakpip Yeah, they are doing it one by one. Berlin Cinemaxx is now up online. At 8.30 (gtm+1) half the room was already booked Oo. All the best seats nearly taken. (Phew – thankfully I decided to do it online and not go to the cinema when it opens at 10.30 or order them over the phone at 10…) At this rate it will be sold out by tomorrow!
Even the Servers crashed while I was trying to get mine. Who would have thought so many people are into DW in Berlin?

I LOVED to see a close-up of all the props used – more AG though as this is my stronger connection to the show. You were kind of guided through the first part with audio/video bits which made you laugh occasionally.

The best part though was to see that there were quite a lot young and old people who could not wait to see it. One young men (in his twenties) in front of me was positively giddy with excitement when the group waited to be let in. Whenever you saw something new people around you were quoting episodes. The weeping angels were scary – even to a friend of mine who I just dragged along.

A perfect keepsake is my litte TARDIS I was super embarrassed to buy in front of two friends as it was labeled as a toy… Worth it anyway. Makes the landing/lift off noise and nobody here knows what it means anyway if they happen to see it. And those who do are just jealous 😉

    @bluesqueakpip ! That is genius!

Another possibility: we’ve seen The History of the Time War; the TARDIS was very careful to make sure Clara saw it as well. It could be that The History of the Time War is significant in the same way the Melody Malone novel is significant in Angels Take Manhattan. The Doctor (whichever Doctor) has, unfortunately, read it. He read his own future before he realised that he’d taken another name. He’s now stuck with acting out the history of that future.

Changed his name and acted out his future because he had no choice in big decisions. Love it. Because it is history he does what he did. And there wont be too much detail about companions or anthing so he has left a bit of free will….. just genius.

Do you guys remember the Doctor explaining to Churchill that he knows a secret that should never be revealed? Never be spoken? Maybe he talks of the construction of ‘the moment’? Or how to use it? Does he tell himself how to do it? And the Silence for some reason is involved in stopping the time lock? The most dangerous thing because without the timelords time itself became less stable?

    What do you think?

    #19151
    Timeloop @replies

@Shazzbot @jimthefish  In the description of my cinema you do see pictures of the trailer with the label “first impressions of the movie”. Nevertheless @nick thinks it’s just misleading marketing.

    #19148
    Timeloop @replies

@nick That is just some fancy writing going on there, certainly no cross?

Yeah I noticed those circles as well… Probably says “Exit this way” =D

Yes, true. Could be both ways. Although I would be pretty psyched to see Gallifrey at all! The two suns and the red grass and that giant glass … bubble (at loss for a better word) over the city. IF they enter the timelock- long lost friends and family of the doctor? His children in passing? I think 11 will sacrifice himself  so someone else can escape… would fit into his timeline wouldn’t it? Although, come to think of it…. that is what 10 did already. Moffat won’t repeat a story line….

@blenkinsopthebrave Well then I do not get how or why you could let that happen to the past 50 years? All just a memory and not relevant for anything anymore. If Moffat thought of that he would not have needed to invent Clara so she re-writes anything and everything or nothing, depending on the story.

@blenkinsopthebrave Your end to the episode would be a kick in the stomach for every fan. I do not think they will ever go for that “everything never happened” theory.

I also found out that the trailer we saw is supposed to be actual film material. I saw pictures of it with the title “first impressions of the movie”.

@enlighteneddespot I dont think she could have regenerated, it took only a few seconds and the Doctor was not unconcious. Plus River was really just a copy in TNOTD. She couldn’t fake that. If she had been a ganger there would have been some sort of slime/ milky substance as well.

    @craig Ah, I see!
Well I am always venturing through tabs. But I don’t ctrl+click, I just use my mouse (stay longer on the link on a mobile device to get the option for a new tab). I tend to have a look around the linked site and once I am finished with that website (close that tab) the tab of the forum is exactly where I left off. So I dont have to look for it again. To me it is frustraiting if I click on a link that takes you somewhere else and you loose your position on the other website.

But I agree that is only helpful if you leave the website otherwise it would be as frustraiting to have a million tabs with the same website at different positions (if not created by will).

I also agree that people who prefer tabs will create them at will and people who like the “back” funktion all the time should have the option to do so.

It is not like it would be so much more work to create a tab instead of being created for you? Only 2 clicks – right click and first option in the firefox. You can’t be that lazy @pedant =P

Just out of curiosity: what back button are you two talking about? You can open new tabs in both mobile and pc versions and there is a static back/forward button in every standard brwoser (mostly top left corner?)…? That not something the website can influence?
In the editing of posts? There is a undo and redo button? No idea which one you mean. To flip through pages in a thread? Why would there be a problem….? I don’t get it X-x.

@stevethewhistle Well to give you an example: heavy blockbuster movies are usually shown multiple times a day, starting 14:15 (…) 17.15 (…) 20.00, depending on the cinema chain. In your case you can see screening times of other movies here. A different expample with more of a timetable in general (although in german) is here.

I have read on a german page that advanced sales (is that the right context?) / pre-sales  are starting on the 25th. So hopefully not long to wait…

@wolfweed Omg, lovely pictures! The most intriguing one is that letter!!! And so obvious now that we are going back to Galifrey! What is Under Galifrey? Who wrote it? If it was some Timelord why did he/she not bring it his/herself?

    #18977
    Timeloop @replies

@bluesqueakpip Now that you write it like that it just sounds like an elaboration of what the Doctor said to Clara: The time stream is collapsing in on itself because the Doctor stepped in. Do you remember? When she yelled “Well get out, then!”

“If it were up to me the BBC would only publicise Doctor Who and Sherlock,” says Moffat, “but I have to wait in line”
    Radio Times

Very likeable of him. Although it would make both shows much less interesing if they were accessible anytime we want to. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence… And Sherlock fans would be dust by now in comparison. Lucky I got in so late.

    Hey guys,

I was just wondering if we ever discussed that Clara used the exact same or nearly the same sentences as River did sometimes? Did that ever come up? I would have to rewatch it to give examples though – will have to wait for proper internet to do that. Just wanted to revisit that in case it comes up in the 50th or the christmas special.

The closest one I can remember is this : River “I have pictures of all your faces” Clara: “I have seen all of you” (TNOTD granted not the best one yet, will evolve on that one once I regain full internet-access again and rewatched everything with River)

@bluesqueakpip Love that idea of yours that the TARDIS chose something representing the Doctor! Absolutely fabulous. Too bad we don’t have much to go on before he ran away as @Shazzbot suggests.

As to the croatian case in the last few posts: I can’t quite tell if he is mocking us completly or is just a bit messing about but still likes the show… @pedant I know you wanted to help but on first reading your replies to him you sounded a bit condecending? I thought I might point that out since we wanted to welcome everyone, right? I might have mistaken your tone, I suppose.

That trailer is amazing. So much detail in such a short time. Loved the color for the first one. The wig of eleven was dreadfully visible though.
I agree that the wording is very imperative to the whole trailer. Beside the use of lives instead of life he could have used ‘our future depends on this…’ meaning really his live depends on this day. No wonder there is so much going oh in this 50th thread!

Cheers, will rewatch it to catch more detail,

@bluesqueakpip that would not sit well with me. It just fits to the mood in the episode and I remember Moffat saying he would not want to show that actual bit because who knows what River does to the Doctor when they are alone… And there are children watching.

Of course I can be proven wrong but I hope not. I myself would love that scene but I grudgingly have to agree with Moffat. Instead, I would like to see them getting closer over time from Rivers point of view. The first time Matt got her. The second time PC? The third time they mention a different adventure when the Doctor was still Ten? The second time we saw River the Doctor knew more than he could have done from that one meeting in the library- so did Tennant bump into her? What made him run from her?

    Cheers,

@scaryb Thanks for the welcome 🙂

@bluesqueakpip Sorry to disappoint you but we have already seen the last day River and the Doctor spent together. It was in that Minisode ‘The last night’ as in contrast to the Minisode ‘The first night’ where he first picks her up from her prison (Stormcage?). As much as I would love to see that it is just not in the cards. He dressed up in a tux and all … She said’he is going to take me to the Singing Towers, he has been promising for ages’

@all nice theories out there with fusing and all… Not quite sure what to make of it yet myself.

Are there things you definitely expect from the next episode? I for one really need a better explanation for the whole Silence thingy…. ‘Silence must fall when the question is asked”they believe it (the future of the Doctor) must be averted…’ So they wanted to kill him so he does not die later? What for havens sake happens inside the time stream that is a so called ‘endless bitter war (…) against you.’ The name of the Doctor was a real let-down in that direction. I just hope he was doing an understatement and that Steven Moffat will give a more sufficient and satisfying explanation. I also expect the Doctor to get out of his own time stream without creating a Timeloop. I’d rather he has to race time in order to escape… Maybe with Clara already on the other side. Will the Hurt Doctor follow them or keep standing there looking in one direction. Maybe whatever he did has paralyzed him so that he somehow locked himself somewhere without regenerating? Splitting a part of him with that machine that made ten human? Maybe he banned this part of his personality?
Maybe Hurt is the mental lock in nightmare in silver? A constant inner monologue with the part he abandoned? Maybe that is why Clara could not see him inside the time stream?prisoner of himself? The episode is said to be very emotional, right? Maybe he has to come to terms with himself and his capacities?

Curious what you might definitely expect from the new episode!

@scaryb Thanks for that link, exactly what I have been looking for! Even though I am back in Germany now I am honestly thinking about flying to the UK for the 23. to see the whole thing in a cinema, must be amazing. Turns out my best mate found his way to Doctor Who as well when I was in the UK so we might just book a flight and do it… (Funny how things work out sometimes).

A bit off topic: got into Sherlock BBC while waiting for the Doctor to get a move on – Looks like anything Gatiss and Moffat do turns out to be genius. If either of those two or anyone who knows them in person ever reads this in secret: thank you very much indeed for all the fun times to Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat!

@hudsey there rings something very true for me in your idea for the name of the Doctor actually being the day that the Doctor is “born”. I have a feeling this might be spot on. Fits with the last episode we have seen: the Doctor has a secret he will take to the grave. It is discovered. They were not talking about the secret but the grave. So we should try to take it without forcing more meaning into it than there is. Exciting to think we will see the emotional process that formed the Doctor whether that is number zero or a timewar Doctor. As I always like to include River I had a thought that fits into what you were theorizing: if it is a Non-Doctor and everything the Doctor wanted to leave behind then there is that reason in SITL and FOTD why River is so sorry to tell him his actual name because she knows it causes him pain and s stress in a situation where he already lost Donna…

Sorry if I am just repeating anyone in this thread, have not kept up with every post.
