WARNING – dangerous spoilage – only for the hardest core spoiler lovers like moi
its in the beginning – the rest we already know
28 June 2017 at 21:33 #59895Great theory but only if they stay put at that end? I think the idea might not be to stick around?
Unless they go back to the top then use the black hole to play with time. I suppose
if your the Doctor you can manipulate where the space ship is in relation to the
black hole. Maybe use the Tardis tractor beam to move this space ship into a
different time? Einsteins theory? The Tardis moved the whole planet Earth in End off Time?
28 June 2017 at 20:42 #59887I’m curious if in the next season when Chibnall takes over if he might choose
to strike a new direction some where between the BG and AG styles?
Broadchurch is a serial format. He’s done both. Maybe he’ll create a hybrid 🙂
I’m also curious to see if he brings back any older Who characters.
He has a history with many of them.
that’s a very clear explanation !
So one end is moving backwards and the other into the future?
Ugh! What ?
28 June 2017 at 06:04 #59831I’m not saying that I’d be super enthusiastic but I think of it like the Master’s return..
Its what you can do with a character. I’m really liking the return of Saxon in this
better then the last time around.
Curious about his return is that the last time we saw him the Time War was
a thing. I wonder if we find out that it still is in the next/last episode? I’ve been
trying to think it thru about how and why it feels to me like he’s been marooned on that ship?
Might be something done to him? He’s been tasked by Time Lords for some war demands before.
Maybe again? Well I’m glad that the Saxon Master is back!
You think it might be possible that the Saxon Master doesn’t know that Galifrey has been saved?
He might have missed all of that? How long has he been on that ship? He might think the war
is still happening? Maybe that’s why Missy doesn’t remember? Saving Galifrey might have
changed their time lines? Well just more to chew on.
28 June 2017 at 04:52 #59829@thane15
Me ‘suggested’ that it was The Doctor and Clara that created ‘the Hybrid’ and
that’s fine if you agree with it. She didn’t deliver convincing proof for me.
Moff definitely has had lots of fun creating many versions of hybrid.
You know what – A new show runner might decide to pick up the Hybrid idea all
over again and I wouldn’t be very surprised to see that.
27 June 2017 at 03:59 #59753I saw this nice idea on Reddit . The Time Lords could have released the Saxon Master to that
ship to create a Cybermen army to help them fight in the Time War and this army could be also
what the Hybrid was? We still don’t really know that answer but 2 warrior races as 1 was 1 of the
hybrid clues.
Because why would the Saxon master be hanging around on that space ship? What’s going on with that?
He seems stuck there to me and he sees the Doctors arrival as his opportunity to escape?
But he wasn’t expecting Missy. I liked this view.
26 June 2017 at 20:13 #59734I have a speculation about all the regenerating stuff. Just as the Doctor and both Masters
make their way back to the other end of the space ship the Saxon Master shoots and mortally
wounds the Doctor so Missy shoots Saxon and he regenerates into her. Actually Saxon might just
be trying to finish the Doctor off as its possible that the Doctor might have already gotten seriously
wounded in battle So then we have two Missys helping the Doctor to the Tardis . I bet they stay with
him and they all leave each other on decent terms. They get their friends back.
Until the next future kerfuffle. I’ve been thinking this cause the Saxon Master still holds tremendous
animus against the Doctor confirmed by Bill’s conversion. But Missy is more internally conflicted.
Maybe this leads to “Death in Heaven”. I actually believe we will see more of Missy in future seasons.
She’s just too good and they often figure out a way to bring back the ones that have a very significant
open ended story arc.
They even brought back Bad Wolf!
25 June 2017 at 22:37 #59673Well we both know this is your personal judgement call because of your politics
AND I don’t need to defend myself on how I share a link – but I will give it my
best effort to ignore your ridiculousness
25 June 2017 at 19:53 #59664Well maybe you should click the link – maybe they are referring to another link
You know what they say about assuming
25 June 2017 at 19:13 #5966125 June 2017 at 17:07 #59640Yes – the 50th anniversary multi Doctor out of time alteration stuff.
So new bonkers theory is that since they are near the black hole and there are so
many versions of time occurring at the ‘same time’ then maybe this could
mean that Missy doesn’t recall these events in a normal time sequence?
Its another/new revision of the events? Very Moff actually.
I also happen to think that as you travel up to the top of the ship there will be
the advanced armies of Cybermen. So in order to escape the Doctor and
entourage will need to fight their way back together. Has the Master has been
waiting to be rescued? He seems obviously stuck where he is to me. That’s another
weird thing bugging me.
I also had a small issue with the way the Doctor allowed Bill to be taken away. It seemed
odd even though they did say it was to repair her. I thought he should of immediately have
sent her back into the Tardis when the blue man started flipping out over the “are you human” thing!
25 June 2017 at 06:12 #59604If I were a young kid I’d have trouble sleeping tonight after this. It was dark and creepy.
Maybe BBC should have made one of those warnings at the beginning?
I’m stumped as to why Missy doesn’t remember and in fact I’m so totally stuck
on that its the only detail of this story I can really think about just now.
So for now I’m thinking either 1 -she does know or 2 she had a mind wipe ?
25 June 2017 at 03:20 #59595I put my reaction on spoilers cause I thought some how my reaction might belong there ?
but WOW FOLKS! Everything about this one! Really!
25 June 2017 at 03:06 #59592WELL DAMN!!! In no way did that fall flat !
Why didn’t Missy remember and just a ton of other questions
Made the rest of this season feel very underwhelming for me
GEESH! What a cracker!!
23 June 2017 at 23:23 #59511I saw that too and for me it means he starts to regenerate at the end of “The Doctor Falls”
My hunch is that the Xmas episode will be another ‘dreamlike’ knock off again minus Santa.
Probably the beginning of the regeneration in the 12th episode and completing it at Xmas?
Same director and writer thru episodes 11-Xmas so there has to be definite continuity
but they said also that its going to be a different sort of regeneration. So maybe the strategy is
I think to keep everyone hanging on for months instead of it all happening instantly?
22 June 2017 at 03:45 #59464I was wondering about Missy and the Cyberman army she wanted to give the Doctor in “Dark Water’.
What I’m wondering is if this Cybermen idea came to her from the Master in this episode ?
The reason this occurred to me is because in one of the promo pictures the Master is holding a tool
and I cant decide if its a sonic screwdriver or a laser scalpel which occasionally was mentioned
in some previous Doctor stories. If this is the scalpel then my guess is that the Master has been up
to something with the Cybermen. So does this indicate anything about Missy’s quest to be
good and something goes wrong which is why the Doctor falls?
But Missy gets one of her clever ideas? She still wants her friend back. The “Dark Water episode?
This is all a huge hypothesizing leap and probably not. I thought Dr. Skarosa was Davros and
that didn’t work out either.
21 June 2017 at 02:06 #5941421 June 2017 at 01:09 #59409Quite honestly thinking of Capaldi in this – obviously !
18 June 2017 at 20:37 #59260‘Death in Heaven’ Missy and Cybermen .
Missy seemed to be in control of those Cybermen.
‘World Enough and Time’ again we have Missy and Cybermen and I for 1 will not be
too surprised if Missy/Master is in control.
A bit worried for Bill. I think she might morph into a Mondasian?
15 June 2017 at 22:39 #59119Well I haven’t looked here for many days so I’ve read some, scanned some skipped some.
What I notice here is mostly how almost everyone seems more interested in the goings
on of CapDocs particular internal struggles then I’ve actually been.
I get that this is crucial to this story arc in ways that have not been previously explored in this show.
Its began in his very first episode with the question “am I a good man’ and we’ve had him under
a microscope ever since.
But what I’ve liked best in this season is his struggle with Missy! I would seriously have had enough of the
anguishing if it were not for the Missy aspect of his story. It’s been a big surprise seeing Missy show
the Doctor some empathy in several scenes over a few episodes. My theory is that her empathy maybe
just a sign of her narcissism. I’m actually a lot more interested in finding out how altruistic
Moffett makes her than in all the Doctors personal complications. I’m guessing that by Christmas
whatever happens he’ll be getting rescued just in time. Respectfully, I’m ready for it and quite honestly
I think the Doctor will be too.
BTW, if you don’t have a smoke alarm and a small fire extinguisher in your kitchens then folks may I
humbly suggest you get them! They don’t cost much and they have good peace of mind value!
Doesn’t matter if your a renter or home owner. Think of it like seat belts.
13 June 2017 at 03:08 #5900413 June 2017 at 02:30 #59000Missy in possession of the Doctors confession dial was ultimately a Rassilon setup wasn’t it?
Could this be some part of the long story where she cuts another deal with him?
She delivers the Doctor to him and gets some new regenerations? I know Missy
is a gaslighting Queen but I’m mulling over if she can get around the Doctor?
Interesting possibilities. I’ve had for a good part of the season been smelling a whiff
of Rassilon. Where did he end up in his exile? Is that where the Doctor will be in
the last episodes?
12 June 2017 at 21:17 #58983Sharing forward this which was in my mail. Lots of curious choices
11 June 2017 at 23:39 #58940Yes- I used to know that before I forgot it 🙁 Thanks Nick
So maybe here we go again?
I read in Tardiswiki and interesting little factoid about the 10th Doctor and the 3rd. Apparently
the 3rd was drawn into the same time period as the 10th as he was going thru his regeneration.
In a book called “The Christmas Inversion” they shared energy thru an ‘osmosis’ process.
Also, both the 11th Doctor and River Song shared regeneration energy a few times.
11 June 2017 at 22:46 #58938Can 1 Time lord steal another Time lords regenerations? Does Missy have the ability to ‘feel’
this is as you say that the Doctor is ‘in embryo’ ? If she is in her last regeneration but
knows the Doctor has many going forward it might be her intention to ‘steal’ some of his
regeneration energy when the time arises? That could be why she’s pretending to go along with
the ‘I want to repent” stuff? Then she is there hanging around for when ever this next regeneration
occurs. Maybe? She wants her friend back? Or – she wants some thing he has and she needs
for her own survival? It can also make it seem perhaps like no other regeneration we’ve ever seen?
I’m a huge fan of gardening too! Weeding and pruning can be a very effective hypertension
‘medication’ . 🙂
11 June 2017 at 20:30 #58925– Well I think this 1 was really good. One of my favorites coming out of Gatiss since the “Unquiet Dead’
which I have always liked very much. Loved the Victorian space suits and this Ice Warriors design
especially the Empress and her ‘hair’. More referring to the Doctors health again.
@optimall yes!!
Was it Nardole that decided to go get Missy or was it the Tardis? Since the Doctor doesn’t need Missy
to get thru a regeneration then what’s the deal?
10 June 2017 at 02:52 #58830Very interesting take on Brexit. Do you know about the EU/USA banana wars?
That went on a very long time but it was interesting cause in the end the multinationals
won a ruling against the EU for basically trade obstruction/protectionism.. My take
away about the whole Brexit kerfuffle is that trade would still continue to keep going where
ever it wants to. We ultimately were able to sell bananas into the EU cause we were
going to block some EU imports. So how much does the EU get to negotiate the actual trade
or do they just get to litigate over the safety and some other rules?
The EU needs to stay with UK on some level cause of the whole western alliance .
These are uncertain times of Russian interference and terrorism.
Reasons why it seemed to me the UK holds some strong brexit cards.
9 June 2017 at 18:35 #58803I’m relatively familiar with British politics because I lived there for a few years albeit
26 years ago. I get most of the basics of the system.
DUP is something akin to evangelicals here to my mind or at least something
ultra conservative. Not good in the 21st century.
But who in the Tory party can replace May? Yes – I’d be very interested to know too.
I’m interested in the economics of this. Interest rates wont go anywhere.
It should still be good for exporters. I wouldn’t be buying stock in home builders but
you need to expand housing so rents will stay high. Some economists will think a
softer brexit means a stable pound. Don’t see that. There is less consensus now on
brexit then there was before the election. Hung parliament. More head winds?
So how crazy of a decision was it to call this election?
BTW, In case your wondering the election outcome is a very big story here too,
9 June 2017 at 17:02 #58800I texted my bff over there in the East Midlands both last night and this morning.
She cant stand May. She’s always complaining about her and I complain back about
‘orange cheeto’. She was hugely pissed off when May called the election. Her reason was
that she felt May just opened up an opportunity for the ‘revenge of the remainers’.
So now the UK will be thrown into chaos because of this outcome. Yes, but this is
what I told her. The UK might be thrown into chaos because of the pound. Its going to
weaken. Your likely to have serious inflation. Look at the financial news and check out the
resistance charts for the pound. Looks like trouble ahead. It was relatively stable but now?
Corbin took a page out of Bernie Sanders, Francoise Hollande and even Donald Trump!
He made wildly improbable and grossly unfunded promises to everyone but mostly to young
voters that as @mudlark points out came out in huge numbers. Also, he not only wants guaranteed
minimum wages but also maximum wages too. But he leaves out that a lot of the highest
wage earners either off shore their money or they take it in stock options to avoid taxes.
So basically its just more squeezing of the economy there particularly who ever is in the middle.
But May certainly is not seeming to be the most competent politician either . Hopefully not
as incompetant as ‘orange cheeto’ . I shake my head over what’s going on in Washington DC
every day too. Can’t what till we can all move on to some new chapter when this was all a
bad dream.
7 June 2017 at 01:59 #58671LOL!! Yeah, they got these new things I call grannie pull ups – but that would be like
a super violation on a hip chick like Missy don’t ya think? Um, I dunno
Clearly this is far too extreme bonkering 🙁
6 June 2017 at 22:54 #58660Update. I previously suggested that Missy should get a TV in the “vault”. Just seemed like a
rational idea. Well I had another very close look behind the piano there seems to be a TV!
It has a blank dark screen in a mid-century modern white cabinet!
. Thought I would share my joy over this happy discovery!
6 June 2017 at 20:05 #58643Well with respect to the way that the Doctor has always been avoiding his own kind even when he
was very young by hiding out in the Cloisters on Galifrey just indicates to me that he’s
never missed them really all that much. No doubt he missed a few individually. Including Missy!
I think he’s only lonely for the companions that he has been emotionally invested in.
That’s why I think he feels a really strong emotional investment in Missy .
Strangely, we find him spending all this time after losing River with who? Missy! Doesn’t seem
to matter much how painful she is for him. Doesn’t matter about the game playing. He stays
emotional unavailable to her in one sense but its tricky. He never out right rejects her. They have
an unusual and intimate thing going on. Missy seems to get off on being chased and persued by
the Doctor too. So to me its seriously dysfunctional love. Missy also isn’t the only Timelord left.
But apparently she’s the only one the Doctor needs. At least that’s how I read it. One of those
relationships that causes lots of discomfort for both of them but their irresistible to each other too.
Otherwise they would have moved on from each other a long time ago.
I’d love to know more of their back story. Not as interested in the analysis of why they are effected
by each other as much as how this happened.
5 June 2017 at 21:00 #58597Totally agree with you about testing Bill and also that something seems a bit ‘off’ with the Doctor.
That’s what I was getting at when I posted earlier about the Doctor calling out to the ‘appalling
hair girl’ ! Really? Just doesn’t seem a Doctor-ish thing to say and in fact even maybe a bit Missy-ishy ?
I tell which bit it is that bugs me
With all those simulations that the Monks ran over millennia emphasized in the first 2 episodes
was there ever once a simulated situation like the one with Bill using her Mum’s memories?
So it just popped up ? This can work in Doctor Who but for me not this story this time.
5 June 2017 at 05:00 #58549Just gave the episode a 2nd re watch and I’m still not completely happy with how they brought
this episode to conclusion. I guess after the first 2 episodes I anticipated something a bit different.
Some one wrote ‘underwhelming’ on the thread for describing the ending -yes.
And I wanted more Missy ! Well, that’s only because I always think she’s brilliant. I actually
felt bad that she’s cooped up in the vault and when she made demands for some “goodies”
I thought well can you just give her a TV maybe? She can catch up on the Teletubbies?
With all the available channels she’d find something.
4 June 2017 at 18:37 #58515There ere aspects of this episode that felt some what cop out-ish to me too. In the end it didn’t
have a lot of power for me. The resolution was too simple.
@serahni I get the same feeling about the Missy stuff as you. Its the Missy stuff that potentially has
the real surprising ‘Missy-direction for me’. When the Doctor calls out “Hey you appalling hair
girl” and then says “ok – move along now” I thought to myself – um is Missy in your head?
Then later at the very end during Missy’s passionate remorseful heart to heart I was wondering
ok now, what is this about??
1 June 2017 at 02:38 #58340@thane15
Well I guess what has the most value to you is not what most engages me about the show.
Yes the show is full of wisdom and Bill has strengths and weaknesses. I get that.
But what I really get enthusiastic about is the Doctor’s mythology and story arcs.
That’s what makes it awesome for me. The plots, the journeys, the gags, the monsters etc.
So its a matter of not all folks are going to love what you love for the same reasons that
you love it. What matters most in the show for me isn’t primarily the companions mental condition
because ultimately I’m confidant that the Doctor will always choose very competent companions.
I actually do like some particular characters very much during these Moffat years. Strangely,
they mostly weren’t the regular companions.
1 June 2017 at 00:33 #58332@thane15
(Puro)
Yeah some folks just seem to come off so conceited when they post- Geesh!
Still I suppose every ones entitled to their own opinions aren’t they?
This I completely agree with you on –
it can be unacceptably rough world even for the toughest of us that live in it .
1 June 2017 at 00:04 #58331Yeah you’re totally right about Wiki
Maybe someone wanting some attention?
Tremendous bonkers theory!!! Scale of 1-10 its an outstanding 10.
That’s why I posted it
31 May 2017 at 21:56 #58327I tried to re paste the wiki page from earlier again but its not happening
BUT it WAS absolutely there – weird!
31 May 2017 at 21:40 #58326Yeah they took it down! WOW! I guess that means it’s accurate?! It said :
2017 Doctor Who The First Master Episode “Untitled Christmas Special 2017”
This was found on Gabriel Byrne’s wiki page earlier today but apparently it went poof !
BTW- New conspiracy theory- big brother is watching our spoiler posts cause the wiki page
got re-edited pretty quick!!
31 May 2017 at 19:20 #58322I just got this in my mail
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriel_Byrne#Filmography
go to television last entry !
31 May 2017 at 17:02 #58320This is probably a big nothing burger but I saw a preview for the next episode which shows a
graphic symbol image meant to represent the Monks. Its an X and Pyramid and in 1 scene
.behind the Doctor its in a circle.
It occurred to me that in the Master/Missy AG episodes there is usually a graphic symbol in
all the episodes where he/she tries to invade and control the Earth.
In ‘Sound of the Drums” / ‘Last of the Time lords’ its Harold Saxon’s X in the ballot box.
In “Dark Water’/ ‘Death in Heaven’ it was circles that looked like a Cyberman eye.
So now can we impose the pyramid shape on those others that came before?
I wonder if its the Master if he is using a perception filter to hide out in the Pyramid/Tardis?
Can the Doctor feel his presence there?
31 May 2017 at 00:01 #58303Not only is that a disturbing personal situation tbh you can totally feel it in this episode.
That was amazing and so very interesting catch about the Pyramid! Thanks for that!
30 May 2017 at 21:49 #58295@wolfweed You know it does sound a bit like the Osirians and the powers they had?
They’ve had previous interests in the Earth and pyramids too.
I was thinking it could be Rassilon and a web of time thing. Particularly since the
“assumption” of Mondasians in some episodes and the conclusion of this trilogy
leading into that?
30 May 2017 at 20:02 #58290So looking it up on Tardiswiki that particular room in the Tardis is called the
‘Architectural Reconfiguration System’.
Its purpose is to reconstruct particles to your needs. Isn’t that really a lot like ‘simulation’?
Yes, properly piloting the Tardis according to 10 takes {I think he said} 6 🙂
30 May 2017 at 19:14 #58288Well I guess I lost the post in my spelling edit but I was saying that I’m with you on the Tardis!!!
It reminded me of a scene in the “Journey to the center of the Tardis’ in the room with the
spaghetti lights and orbs. I couldn’t care less about the psychology of Bill. She is like all the
Doctor’s companions in that she was picked because of her special critical thinking abilities.
I wonder which companion would have made different choices from hers?
I’m thinking the story still would be written the same. But that Pyramid has the same level of
“skills” as a Tardis. So if it shakes out that the pyramid is a Tardis then I hope it’s Rassilon cause
that would be such a great twist!
30 May 2017 at 18:59 #58287Yes Yes Yes the Pyramid! I’ve 0 interest in the psychology of Bill ! She’s a human
and like the rest of us we all have pudding head issues. We are all hoping that because
the Doctor took a shine to her its cause she has more valuable critical thinking skills. So how
many times has that been the theme in the companions. I’m thinking always!
But the pyramid ! It has interesting abilities on the level of a Tardis.
It reminds me of a scene in “Journey to the center of the Tardis” with the spaghetti lights and orbs.
Those that looked at the next episode preview saw something that actually may relate to 1 of those.
I’ve been getting a serious Tardis vibe about that pyramid too! However its probably wishful thinking.
But if it actually does shake out that way- which is super doubtful – I want it to be Rasilon’s Tardis!!!
29 May 2017 at 23:01 #58233Love this movie! Thought about this last season when the Doctor first started wearing
the glasses. I was wondering if an homage would happen? There are
some parallels . Now the Doctor has to figure out how to ‘cut the broadcasted/ televised/
webcasted / signals” like Nada did in “They Live”. I think that the sunglasses
will reveal the truth for the Doctor to help him fight against the Monks enslavement .
I’ve been stuck on the pyramid. It seems the source of power for the Monks. Possibly as an
emitter/projector sending out the simulation signals. This episode was I think another simulation.
They cured the Doctors blindness with a ‘magic trick’ which is why I think that.
So if the pyramid is a great big projector machine it shouldn’t be too hard to find
the off switch?
28 May 2017 at 07:04 #58137What do Monks have to do with pyramids? Something I remember from Native American
history having absolutely nothing to do with this episode but thought I ‘d mention
“Monks Mound” which was in the shape of 1 of the most giant pyramids on the planet.
Still thinking about this episode. Seemed a bit choppy , The pyramid is bugging me
amongst some other stuff.
26 May 2017 at 00:48 #58028On the Doctor Who news site they’re saying the series will be available in China now
“”up thru series 15″” So in other words we are getting at least ‘5’ more seasons !? 🙂
I believe the edit is in deference to children watching the show and I get that .
The omitted scene will more than likely be made available in some way.
