responding to @faegrl earlier comment about the 2nd doc being sweet oh my oh my you only have to see his expressions when he thinks no one is looking sometimes you think seven is manipulative but the doctor showed his mastership in his second regeneration he perfected the “look I`m a clown ” look and the doctor certainly hasn’t got the name of trickster from nowhere 🙂
1 March 2014 at 08:18 #25910Right I am going to wade in on a couple of topics that have been floating around lol(primarily as I’ve been lazy over the last few days and only just caught up on my emailed post subscriptions). On the matter of companion doctor love new who hardly has a monopoly on this as I remember Sarah-Jane Smith certainly seemed to have the “hots” for Four though I do suppose this was slightly creepy since she had a more father/daughter relationship with Three. To a degree I think most the female companions go through an adoration phase with the doctor I think in part it is a part of his charm make up they either see him as this “sexy” bloke or as a trusted father figure. Yes AG series’s have emphasied the romantic but as other members have commented that seems to be the way modern dramas seem to be today, and part of the appeal of the show is that whilst being distinctive it has always tried to be current.
Now on the topic of the grammar and topic Daleks lol I quiver in my boots. I am certainly no English language major 🙁 and my spelling certainly leaves something to be desired so please be gentle with me @monochromedimension 🙂 :p
On the matter of regeneration I love the theory of dominant and ressesive personality traits. Let’s be honest if the doctor was exactly the same each regeneration the show would certainly would not have lasted 50 years.
26 February 2014 at 14:49 #25787@monochromedimension yes the 7th doctor did become kind of manipulative to the point where there were hints that he was something more than your ordinary timelord . Your mentioning of Ace is very apropros and if you think about it Tennantdoc virtually admits he does exactly the same with Donna Noble and 12 did the same in the hotel inorder to break Amys faith in him so as you say all the doctors have had this manipulative/dark side ( oh lord i feel like ive wandered into a conversation about starwars and the force lol “beware the power of the darkside doctor”). Infact from 7ths second season onwards the whole tone of the show had a darker side as i said it was almost hinting that the doctor was somthing more, but hey ho thats just my perception.
on another note however it occured to me if susan was the doctors granddaughter where is his daughter and why have we never seen her ….. or have we (thinks of TEOT)
24 February 2014 at 18:37 #25729@d12345 if you don’t like who why bother to post here this is a site for who fans to discuss all things who and whilst I respect your opinion to not like the show your attitude disrespects our right to like the show
22 February 2014 at 19:24 #25668Can I just say something about doctor 6 although he is not my favorite doctor I don’t have the dislike for him that appears to abound. Whilst as an actor I have heard he could be let’s say “difficult”, the first doctor was also a difficult actor to work with. In part I think the doctors character was as much driven by the then production and writing team, that and BEEBS attempt to give the show a new direction/slightly different format especially in the series which became the trial of the doctor. In some respects I think this was the beginning of the attempt to drop the show from the air although I really liked the seventh doctor and was gobsmacked when the show was dropped from the schedule. Getting back to my point that the sixth doctor should not be vilified for being unsuccessful as the doctor as not every choice will necessarily work out. I believe we have been lucky that so many of the actors have been superlative in the role.
Just as a bye note I wonder how many of the doctors have previously been in the show prior to their selection as the doctor. Yes I know Capaldi was the pompeian, CBaker played a timelord guard at one point, but have any of the others previously been in the show, obviously hartnell wasn’t duty I was wondering about the others.28 January 2014 at 20:55 #24831Oh yes the outfit looks great, just enough of a nod to the past but with an edge of originality to say this is me for the new doctor. Though I must say on a personal note I would liked to have seen the tartan on Peter :p
28 January 2014 at 19:21 #24817Well there’s definitely homages to previous eras in the cappaldi outfit most notably I think hartnell and pertwee.
28 January 2014 at 13:22 #24809Hmm we’ll there was at least one doctor that would fight, he was a master of Venusian aikido, and low look who could be a spitting image for Pertwee doc.
28 January 2014 at 13:16 #24808Omg it’s dr who meets Austin Powers lol well that’s my first thought. Though when I saw the the side by side with Pertwee we’ll I though seventies here we come.
20 January 2014 at 17:22 #24491Right wading back into the timelines debate why are we essentially debating weather certain events happened. Now this is my own opinion but both timelines are actually interchangeable as the actions of the doctor will remain the same. Now bear with me on this the main debate seems to be revolving around the BRB having/having not been pushed and weather the Moment and bad wolf being one entity. As to the first it doesn’t really matter if the button was or was not pushed as the doctors actions were dictated by his belief and uncertainty weather gallifrey still existed and his survivors guilt, the events still happened, his guilt still existed just the reason for that guilt were slightly different. His eventual guilt was only alleviated by the realisation of galliferys fate by the events of DOTD. The ultimate events on trenzalore and the “death” of the doctor may have more to do with the possibility of potential events. It maybe that the graveyard timeline was only a possible future that has essentially not occurred, someone once said possibility has more power than actuality and may only be a causal paradox which produced the results in TOTD.
Oh my my head hurts after that round of paradoxal thinking.
As to the Moment and badwolf being one entity I believe that it is possible for them both to be aspects of a single entity, but be separate… This would revolve around the fact that they are in some way are part of the time vortex which I have previously suppositioned has it’s own “cosmic” consciousness, given this it would be feasible that such an entity would be able to fragment itself into distinct aspects. This may be something similar to the way the tardis considered itself and other tardises when referring to them as sisters in TDW, they all partake/use the time vortex so are connected but are separate.
Now I may be totally way off the mark and expect there to be disagreement with the above comments but that is what the forum is for 🙂 so happy discussion
19 January 2014 at 18:43 #24444We have another relative of a sort of the doctor that could be considered though just how this relative would have got to earth to create a descendant who could be Clara does elude me….. Of course I am referring to jenny from the doctors daughter. Now I know the last we saw her she was jetting or should I say rocketing off into space and how she or a descendant could end up on earth in the “present”, ouch time travel tenses really make my brain hurt, but it would be a possibility to be considered if we are considering that Clara is some sort of relative to the doctor. Though technically I suppose jenny could be considered as a sister much as meta crisis doctor could be considered a “brother” to the doctor,( oh my it’s starting to sound like Babylon 5 dialog “zathras serves the one and the one “lol.) what I am trying to say is there must be other possibilities for who are Clara’s relatives that may or may not be the doctors relative.
18 January 2014 at 13:01 #24373@bluesqueakpip another peice of datum for your list : the doctor had to use the galifeyan presidential seal to decode the message
18 January 2014 at 12:53 #24371Right @barnable i love your theory but could i take an aspect even further you theorised that the moment is the time vortex , well we do know there are beings supposedly more powerful and older than the TL`s namely I’m referring to pre time war DW in the respect to the black and white guardians. Also there are theories out there that propose that time is actually organic and not essentially linear, (oh my quantum mechanics makes my head ache) so your original supposition that the moment/badwolf/time vortex are one being may not be that far fetched especially if they are in fact like the black and white guardians which were i think supposed to be the physical embodiment of good and evil, so why not a physical embodiment of time in which case it would most probably have the power/ability to grant the doctor a new regeneration cycle because in a way its resetting the doctors time. And given the doctors apparent services to these universal beings perhaps they felt him deserving of a reward( OK maybe not the black guardian but others might lol). And yes there are probably massive holes in this extension of the theory and i welcome any one that can help correct this or even come up with a proof that can disprove this theory.
15 January 2014 at 00:43 #24317Omg has the doctor been taken over by the evil ood in that last picture lol
15 January 2014 at 00:36 #24316Ah but but @purofilion the Timelords responding to Clara’s plea could be a dual case of rewarding the doctor for saving them and a case of enlightened self interest, especially if they need his help to break out of the pocket universe. Also a small part of me can’t help wondering if the timelords or rather the high council will declare him renegade again given that he did essentially thwart Rassilon it would be just like the ungrateful personages (not what I really want to say but I refuse to swear out of politeness) to do this as if memory seves me and I hope it does the only reason the Timelords caught him at the end of troughtons time was because he called them in when he found a situation he knew only they could sort, not sure of all the details as I was not really old enough at the time to watch and it’s one episode I never saw as a repeat.
13 January 2014 at 10:47 #24264I’m posting this here rather than in the rose and crown as it contains content based on rumours and is stimulated in part in response to @fatmaninabox comment #24261. Now we all love Matt and david in our own ways, and wish them we’ll in their various nomination categories in the upcoming awards, but it got me thinking albeit at a tangent, about the rumour that the master might return. Now although I think John Sims is a great Master, I think it is time for a new master. As to me Sims will always be linked to the Tennantdoc and yes I know others have already been mentioned for the role but I think as he most certainly will have been taken out of the running for doctor for the foreseeable future Benedict Cumberbatch (yes I know I’ve properly spelt it wrong) I think would make an excellent master especially given his portrayal of Sherlock as a high functioning sociopath it gave him that evil alien genius quality that’s he role of the master requires.
I apologise in advance if the moderators consider this to have been put in the wrong place but I would rather err on the side of caution than make a faux pas
13 January 2014 at 10:13 #24262Lol @fatmaninabox is there really a fatgrannyinabox or is it a case granny will box your ears for you :p
11 January 2014 at 08:19 #24204Lol @purofilion I did say they were bonkers thoughts 🙂 and desperate times need desperate measures
11 January 2014 at 08:06 #24202Just had another bonkers idea, we’ve had mentioned that the regeneration process almost seems to have become a weapon in the Timelords arsenal, but what if the massive power surge was more to do with the fact that the Timelords were effectively resetting his regeneration cycles. I imagine this would take significant amounts of “power” so to speak so the destructive power that destroyed the Dalek mothership was actually incidental, though possibly not unexpected and given the Timelords propensity for each action having more than one effect killing two birds with one stone. 1 giving the doctor his new regeneration cycle and 2destroying his attackers. In addition along with others I am thinking of capaldidoc as doctor 2.0 in some respects but with capdoc asthe first incarnation in the new cycle with 12 more regenerations left not 11as some might think. With the Matt/Peter regen being a resetting process, hence possibly the fact that capdoc seems to have some memory problems as I am sure something like that would at least temporarily scramble anyone’s brains.
11 January 2014 at 07:49 #24198I’ve had a bit of what is probably a bonkers thought. We all assume that the doctor only realised the probability that gallifrey was not destroyed after events of DOTD. But given that he almost seemed to be expecting the return of the crack and that in TGC it was revealed in TOTD that the crack was the doctors fear in his room (btw indicating that even the doctor has a faith, even if it’s in himself). I am wondering if he had an inkling that the Timelords and thus Gallifey was still around. As to the truth field on trenzalore surely if this was a timelord invention as soon as the doctor realised it existence he would have smelled a proverbial timelord rat. Also given the doctors rule 1,and given that in the past the doctor has been considered a “renegade” surely he has developed methods to circumnavigate around said field.yes I think somewhere at the back of the doctors admittedly enormous mind he must have known that his fellow Timelords were still around. It also begs the question that given he knew he was in his last regeneration was there some master plan in staying on Trenzalore with possiblity that the high council or others of the timelord race would save him.
Argh this is making my head swim with all the twisty possibilities 🙂
9 January 2014 at 08:02 #24104I wasn’t quite sure where to post this as its not a spoiler, its more of my personal wishes/observations. On the matter of the the new costume hmm if they are only just starting filming the 1st episode i suspect the reveal will be right at the end of the episode much like when Matt’s costume was “cooked” in the eleventh hour and yes i do know that scenes are usually filmed out of sequence but i suspect security will be tight to prevent premature spoilers. though once they start filming subsequent episodes it will be nigh impossible for the costume to be kept secret unless of course the decide to do something absolutely radical like not having a set costume and having him like normal ppl wearing different things on different days lol ( that i really don’t think will happen as each doctor is defined as much by his character as his costume).
On another note how many of you are as frustrated that the new season will not be starting till late summer/early autumn . I for one would like to see a longer season. I personally would think i had died and gone to heaven if they decided to do the States thing where a series that is well established gets a full season of 20-22 episodes and with DW now hitting it bigger than ever in the States much in thanks to Mr Smith I would have thought the American distributors would have been clamouring for longer series’s, (please take note auntie beeb). I suppose going back to a one block season has its advantages but the very reason for splitting the season into two half’s i.e. fans clamouring for the series’s return,to ease production schedules oh and to allow scheduling slots were very valid. if they were to increase the series length the dissatisfaction some fans felt over the brake in the series story arcs would quite possibly be alleviated. Alternatively perhaps along with the Xmas special they could have an easter special to help alleviate the cravings we hard core fans have for Who, although i do appreciate this year with the passing of the mantle so to speak doing a easter special would be difficult as they would not have been able to develop the Capaldi`s doctors character and a special is not really the place to be introducing/developing a characters to do this.
right that me finished sounding off for now
5 January 2014 at 18:40 #23969Right I am posting this here but I am not entirely sure it’s the right place. I have a query and I know this may seem a stupid question but in the End of Time is Rassilon supposed to be the original Rassilon that gave the Timelords time travel along with Omega or is this a timelord that has taken the name of the mythic timelord. The reason I ask this is that my understanding was that the original Rassilon was no longer around or was in a state of eternal sleep. Now I appreciate that he was an ancient timelord if you include the who books as part of the cannon and as such he did not have the 12 regeneration rule to contend with,if he was just asleep so to speak the time war may have roused him, but I always felt that it was not clearly explained how he was there as president of the high council. So if anyone has any thoughts it would be appreciated
4 January 2014 at 15:59 #23924Now I know this maybe a bit left field but this was prompted by rewatching TEOT and given that Donna is also still technically a timelord/human hybrid ok matchstick man sealed away her timelord knowledge but what will that mean for her children and for that matter does it mean she might regenerate or at least have an inordinate lifespan. Yes I know matchstick mk 2 was told he would be able to age but does that mean he will age at a human rate. Anyway this prompted me to thinking of Clara and weather there may be a link to Donna or even between Donna and Tasha Lem, haven’t quite figured what the link might be but can’t help wondering 🙂
2 January 2014 at 13:26 #23812Has anyone considered the fact that Chinny ( oh I do Like that)when rebooted the universe and therefore sealing the crack may have actually be the reason the timelords are now able to “interact” with the doctor. using the cracks as a way of communicating with him may be their way of telling him what has enabled this interaction as since the reboot travel between pocket/parallel universes suddenly appears to have become easier ref TDW and Hide. Omg Ive a sudden thought that if the universes are becoming accessible it return of Stick man Mk 2 and Rose. Also do the timelords really want to come back into our univesre, it strikes me that given that the timelords originally had their non interference policy that sitting in a pocket universe would suit them down to the ground as long as they had their own way of entering and exiting that is, oh and that time is moving at some rate for them, because we all know that they want their cake and to eat it :P.
ah well time will tell
31 December 2013 at 09:05 #23679@ tennantmarsters2013 I agree I hope the only reason Moffat bought the possibility of the timelords being alive again, all be it in a pocket universe, was not just so he had a mechanism for giving the doctor a new regen cycle. I do think that it actually gives the doctor a two fold or even a three fold task.
1. To find gallifrey again.
2. To find a way of bringing them back without restarting the time war.
And here’s the one I actually like
3. Judging weather the time lords should be released, let’s be honest the high council has shown themselves to be a bit suspect in TEOT. Though the war council does appear to be more rational so it’s obvious that at least some timelords are not plain batty. But the future doctor be it Capaldi’s doctor or some other will have to address the issue that the Timelords had become almost as much monsters in the eyes of the races in the know as the Daleks. He needs to find a way to return them to some version of the “moral” (and I use the term with some reluctance given their aloofness at times) pre time war Timelords as the appear to have almost regressed to the amoral dark times version mentioned in the 5 doctors.Well that’s my thoughts for the present and more knowledgeable members will be able to postulate and remould the above into better speculations and theories.
29 December 2013 at 08:50 #23581Oh my lord you are not suggesting that Tasha is a future incarnation of the doctor eeeehew.. I don’t have anything against there being a female doctor but the thought of the doctor snogging himself!!!! Now someone in a previous post said something about everyone being an avatar on the papal mainframe so the aging or non aging as the case may be of Tasha Lem could be explained in that fashion. I agree I want to see more of Tasha but in an interview with the actress who plays her on radio 4 She has stated as far as she knows the role was a one off for the Xmas special, of coarse she may have been told not too reveal any possible future plans for the character. My personal suspicion is that she has some connection to River now I am not saying that she is River but definitely has some connection with her maybe even a sister well what is to say Amy was not pregnant before she and Roary were zapped into the past….. Though I suppose 2 pseudo time lords from the same family is a bit much to believe but as others have said Amy was exposed to the time crack for an awfully long time as well as traveling in the tardis who knows what that may have done to her genetics.
Ah well enough of my ramblings we will let the more knowledgable members of the forum disscuss their pet theories 🙂
25 December 2013 at 21:18 #23377Did anyone catch the bit with the Doctor about Tasha Lem and something about suppressing the psychopath within is this a hint that Tasha is something more or am I reading more into this. It gave me goosebumps thinking could this be some kind of reincarnation of River.
And did I not say the Timelords had the ability to grant further regenerations and they didn’t even have to come out of hiding to do it ….( sorry to brag) given at times SM’s tendency to reboot a myth taking the easiest logical route I suppose given the events of the DOTD it was logical that the Timelords would have an active part in the doctor’s continuation.
25 December 2013 at 20:58 #23371Woohoo shocks and revelations. I take it the plot in general is taboo for a little while yet so our transatlantic members who are watching it later won’t have spoilers, but let’s just say some peoples theories have at least partially been vindicated.
23 December 2013 at 09:53 #23267Just a thought what if the McGann/Hurt regeneration doesn’t actually count as a regeneration as it has been carried out on a dead body. Though with some after thought i suppose its a bit like the Pertwee/Baker regen that needed a kick start by a fellow time lord after the doctors apparent death from radiation poisoning on Metabelius. i suppose the potion was the equivalent to the energy kick-start, but if it didn’t count as a proper regeneration then problem solved for now and the beeb don’t have to mess with who canon. of course this would only postpone the issue till the next regeneration.
23 December 2013 at 09:44 #23265lol now thats what i call a cop out hehe
22 December 2013 at 20:17 #23241@blenkinsopthebrave,@phaseshift and @bluesqueakpip I have read your posts with great interest.I agree having David Bradley “reprise” his role as the Hartnell doctor would be an incredible nice touch, especially if they are going to revise or break the 12 regeneration rule it would be interesting if they could “involve” the first doctor in the resolution being alpha to omega so to speak. Although I have my doubts that this legend will turn out to be a previous incarnation of the doctor it is more likely to be some high profile actor that they are referring to ie like they used Derek Jacoby as an incarnation of the Master.
On the matter of the regeneration rule there is one possible solution that could work without breaking the rule if the sisterhood of Karn were somehow involved this thought was prompted when I re-watched TNOTD minisode and a comment about immortality that the sisterhood has and the fact that they have raised timelord science to its pinicle.
21 December 2013 at 21:38 #23218@blenkinsopthebrave not quite sure what the article was really adding to the body of tidbits that has been released other than some vague statement about the beeb being tight lipped about some returning legend whatever that means.
On another note did anyone catch the interview on bbc radio 4today (Saturday) with the actress who plays Tasha Lem, it was funny listening the interviewer trying to get spoilers out of him.
20 December 2013 at 19:57 #23176Oh my oh my oh my lol
19 December 2013 at 08:08 #23111@fivefaces well if the guardian article about the BFI screening is correct it indicates a lot of “loose”ends will be resolved in the Xmas special and with the beginning of a new reign about to begin I suppose it is an appropriate time. In some respects I think TDOTD began that by putting to rest the doctors involvement in the time war and laying foundations for what is to come. It also seemed looking back on it indicated that what we think is set may not be, that being the doctor death at Trenzalore shouldn’t be taken as a given. If the doctor can change the fate of gallifrey surely he can change his own fate.
Ouch now I have a headache and I’m not at all sure that came out as I intended, but hey feel free to comment that’s what forums are for.
19 December 2013 at 07:42 #23108What they’ve screened the Xmas special and didn’t invite me !!!!!! We’ll the audience better not say anything… Oh and for the ladies there’s supposed to be smith nudity if I’m reading the article right I bet it will just be a bare chest knowing what a tease the grand Moff can be as he says it’s appropriate for teatime tv
17 December 2013 at 09:49 #22949@purofilion which is my point the doctor is so atypical where most of the timelords are concernered it’s almost as if he isn’t a normal timelord his being something more than a timelord would explain this. Although thinking back Hartnell era the doctor started off being more aloof so maybe his attitudes are more to do with his estrangement from timelord society and his “contamination” by his companions.
16 December 2013 at 16:26 #22901Was looking at the promo poster again and you know how everyone has been saying the face in the flames is peter Capaldi I was thinking it could just as easily bee an image of McGann. Yes I know it’s a bit wild and may be my tablet just making the image grainy when I try and expand it but it does look as much like McGann as Capaldi. On the other hand when Matt finally regenerates wouldn’t it be nice if as a further nod to the 50th year anniversary they cycle his features through all the known faces of the doctor before settling on Capadi’s. They did someting similar I think between either the TBaker/Davidson or the Davidson/CBaker except it was past companions that flashed by.
16 December 2013 at 15:45 #22897@thekrynoidman. Oh I do hope so I always thought that McGann was gyped out of more TV time as the doctor and given the minisode NoTD the way for an older looking McGann to appear and given the I won’t remember this ploy used with the hurt and tenant doctors the way would be clear for a one-off or a two parter.
16 December 2013 at 15:35 #22896@craignixon Well I was trying to avoid using book/novel content as I haven’t been around the forum long and wasn’t sure if they were accepted as part of the who history/cannon.I agree certainly in the McCoy era there seemed to be a deliberate attempt to make the doctor more mysterious and taking the novels into account the Other was certainly rebellious, which fits the doctors persona. Though I seem to remember somewhere that ancient timelords had infinite regenerations and it was only “modern” timelords that have restricted regenerations. So if the doctor were truly an ancient timelord his having more regenerations wouldn’t break the “rule”. Given that Rassilon is supposed to be truly immortal and has unlimited regenerations the concept of the doctor being an ancient(ouch were getting stargatey here), timelord is not that far fetched. By the way I was never happy with the Rassilon in TEOT is this the mythic Rassilon or just some timelord wannabe I am sure we all have our own opinions on that matter. But bringing matters back to TToTD I’m sure that Moffat has taken all this into consideration and probably ignored it and will bring about some kind of timey-wimey reason for there to be more regenerations.
15 December 2013 at 21:26 #22860I’ve always wondered if the doctor was something more than your normal timelord Look at some of the characters he has met in the past starting with the white and black guardians, he also appears to have knowledge of races/entities that predate the timelords. Now I don’t know if this is knowledge is supposed to be common to all timelords or is unique to the doctor, but If this was so it would explain why there is a question and may also explain how they may get around the regeneration rule.
Though another thought in the deadly assassin (Tom Baker era ) the master was granted/given more regenerations albeit unintentionally by the timelords as this was the same story that established the 12 regeneration rule it always seemed strange to me that everyone fixated that there can only be twelve regenerations as this fact blatantly made it possible for the doctor to have more than the 12 regenerations most have taken as cannon.Right I’ve rambled enough and there are probably big gaping rifts in what I’ve posted but had to get it off my chest and if it’s in the wrong place my apologies.
15 December 2013 at 19:50 #22852I think the silence work for the silence
12 December 2013 at 06:31 #22689Is that the doctor with the silence we only see him in silhouette. And whoever Clara is talking to she seems to think they have the ability to change the course of time, oho i hope its a surprise appearance of
1. the hurtdoco
2. tennantdoco
even woohoo
3. the moments /tardis operating systems avatars
10 December 2013 at 21:18 #22599I was browsing msn earlier and found an interview with Jenna Coleman about filming the last episode.
later in the interview there is a statement from SM sayingthat “some fundamental myths and stories are going to be turned on thier head” he also made some other comments that may confirm some ppls pet theories so heres the link http://tv.uk.msn.com/news/final-doctor-who-scenes-emotional
10 December 2013 at 10:50 #22534Just been rewatching DOTD for oh only the 7th or 8th time and a rather amusing thought has come to mind with all the debate on weather the final scene with the doctorx (possibly) and weather it takes place inside the tardises of docx might not the whole building of the British gallery be a tardis we know a properly functioning tardis is supposed to blend in with their surroundings why not the tardis of a retired future doctor.
5 December 2013 at 08:50 #22265Just had a wee thought on the memory thing, as we know the smithdoc has entered his own time stream in NoTD and appears to have memory gaps in the DotD. What if these are as a result of having entered his own time stream and it’s a psychological block on memories in order to protect himself from knowledge he shouldn’t have yet much the same as his earlier selves being unable to retain memories of events of DotD. Also Clara’s sudden increased maturity/knowledge where the doctor is concerned may also be down to side effects of having been in the time stream she has effectively lived multiple lives (a bit like a timelord). As TDotD is post what I am currently going to call Trenzalore event 1 for the present untill events in TotD prove or disprove the Doctor’s and Clara’s presence in or escape from the time stream. The events in TotD appear to mark a return to Trenzalore so this would be Trenzalore event 2 which may or may not occur in an earlier time on Trenzalore thus with the demise of the smithdoc creates the time stream rupture on Trenzalore for event 1 and lays the way for Capaldidoc to appear. Oh my head hurts now i am sure someone will be able to refine this supposition/theory.
3 December 2013 at 19:38 #22209@elouise if memory serves me wasn’t Capaldi beardless on the reveal show though thinking about it he may still have had a goatee. Oh by the way just seen the beebs Christmas line up advert montage with several interesting shots from the Xmas special, one had Clara introducing Matt smith’s doctor as her boyfriend to her family lol

I loved the quote and demonstrates that for the timelords and daleks that the time war is a war of constant revisions with planets and races disappearing as each side battles to change events in order to destroy the other and the other side countering in order to prevent the their enemies actions. Also it would make even the most peace loving person willing to do anything to put a stop to it, so the war doctor considering the actions he was considering in using the moment is understandable. I’ve also believed since DW came back and revealed the originally supposed fate of gallifrey that the doctors actions may have also to prevent a complete fracturing of time. Of course this is only my own wild assed opinion
28 November 2013 at 12:55 #21879Right I’m going to add my two pence worth (for all that it is worth) with regards to the regeneration limit. First off I am a long term whovian and have watched since I was a small boy, so have been following dr who since early pertwee era, though I have to say tom was “my” doctor growing up and although the deadly assassin originally established the 12 regelation rule it also broke that rule as well when the Master was “given” extra regenerations. So with the reintroduction of the timelords back into the DW universe so to speak is it not possible that the High Council could allocate the Doctor extra regenerations. after all with Rassilon in the picture again ( and please feel free to correct me) who is supposed to be an ancient timelord and is supposed to be truly immortal, does this not mean other timelords may also have more than the posited 13 lives.oh well that my ramble over posted it here as was not sure weather it belonged in spoilers or not but as the regeneration debate seemed to be here this is where it landed.
28 November 2013 at 08:28 #21827Oh my I see what you mean a out Clara’s cracker what can she about to do with it…… And on that note I will say no more.. about the cracker that is.
I had wondered if as it’s Smith’s swan song weather they would do a Tenant on us and do a 2 parter for the Xmas special.
@wolfweed love the cartoon.
Although I am new to the forum I will no doubt have more to say as we get more clips and spoilers and at least we only have just under a month to wait.25 November 2013 at 09:26 #21489A little thought when the doctors were placing Gallifrey into its stasis pocket universe, and the Cappaldi doctor definitely stated thirteenth doctor here, I am sure I saw more than thirteen tardises zipping around. Now this may have just been an illusion as they were moving so fast that I just may have been seeing the same tardises more than once but could this be an indication that Moffat/bbc are preparing for a time when they have to break the 12 regeneration cannon. I am not suggesting that Cappaldi is going to do an Ecclestone and only do one season (god forbid) but with hurt being established as the 9th incarnation this will make Cappaldi the thirteenth doctor therefore in theory the last. On this note remember the thirteen rule has previously been broken with the Master so the doctor having more re generations is not totally unprecedented.
