Not at all. I was visiting the BBC News to see what Boris was up to and saw it.

Car firms have been asked to make ventilators instead of cars to assist the NHS.

Earlier. I’d read that manufacturers of garden equipment were asked too. It took them a week to be up and running.

    Good for them I say.

However, I’d rather they shut pubs than the libraries – here in OZ that is.

So sorry to have taken so long to reply.

I am not taking any pills at the moment, but if this virus gets me, I shall be in a pickle.

    Thanks for advice.

Further to my advice above, the latest precaution is that you should now AVOID anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen (Nurofen, Advil) if you suspect your illness may possibly be Coronavirus. Paracetamol (Acetaminophen, Tylenol or Panadol) is still fine.

Well that’s me in trouble if I succumb to this new enemy. I cannot take the Australian drug Panadol – I call it that because anything that is wrong with you here, they push Panadol! it makes me feel sick, gives me heartburn and doesn’t cure whatever ache I have.

All anti-inflammatories and Codeine I can take.  I shall have to wait until the experts, change their minds again.

heyho. Good luck to all who have had to isolate themselves.

    Stay safe everyone.

Then again being a companion isn’t good, the loss of him would be heartbreaking.

    Hello there.

Frankly I’m in a minority on here, *grins* PC appears to be the least liked Doctor and I cannot understand why?

For me he was the most convincing, the most endearing, the most human of all the Doctors.

Mind you, Christopher came a close second in the ‘human’ stakes.

David Tennant I found witty and quite mad at times, and  I liked him best after Peter.

Matt Smith was a complete nutter, and unless you were bloody minded, a lot of fun.

All of them showed that ‘steel trap mind’ and icy resolve when required.

Why do you like your three?

It seems that you and I agree, as do many, many people who have asked me what I thought- not knowing that I don’t watch anymore. On of my friends called it a ‘parody’ and a very bad one at that.

Still, everyone is entitled to their opinion and all on this forum seem to like it.

I’ve had a quick glance through the posts for this year to see if I had mentioned the detective series RIVER?

The leads are played by Nicola Walker and Stellen Skarsgard.

Ingenious story backed up by superb acting.

I’m also enjoying the THOR series. Surprising really, as the only science fiction I enjoyed, was Doctor Who and Babylon Five. Our eldest lent me the DVDs and I find myself hooked?

Chris Hemsworth is great fun as Thor, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki is superb.

I’ve also been soaking up the 12th Doctor again, there is something about him that helps me feel better – wrong word, but all I can think of for now.

As you know, I am not a fan of continual swearing, can’t see the point especially the f and c word.

However, The thick of It rates amongst the funniest series I have seen.  Peter Capaldi has this way of swearing that brings tears to my eyes.

One scene in particular about face rings etc, where Malcolm  grabs a boy whose face is covered in metal, and tells him  that he’ll shove a ****magnet  down his *** throat, and watch his ***head explode! Reduces me to a helpless mess.

And yet, his off sider Jamie (don’t know the actors’s name) I find very offensive. Why is that I wonder?

Quite understandable. I feel the same about the WAR speech and Husbands of River Song. His lines are so wise and

Tell you what.  All of you go along with the lack of a title and I’ll keep my Mrs/Miss/Mr.

To be called by my first name (which no one pronounces correctly ) by people I don’t know, to me

    shows lack of respect.

When I receive phone calls from, Insurance, sales whatever and they ask is this ……..? I tell them no, it’s Mrs…..!

If you think of the Doctor’s speech with Missy & the Master on kindness, that really sums up Barthes’s idea beautifully. Well no, I don’t understand that, but it sums it up. I’m very certain of this  🙂 And that particular speech, showing the range of Capaldi’s ability & tonal control, breaks my heart every time I hear it.

I think however one interprets the ‘text’ it breaks one’s heart.

Well, it breaks mine, and that ‘s not the only speech.

    Something on which we agree.

Whenever I am sad (such as now with my OH, )or feeling off, I always watch  Doctor Who

David Tennant to start with, followed by Peter Capaldi.

DT makes me laugh, but PC makes me think, laugh and get teary – thanks to Steven Moffat’s script and Peters delivery.

It’s bowel streak, a vile misogynistic little shitweasel and noted Angry Virgin. and we are more than familiar with his vile spewings – and you would be too if you ever paid any attention to what people actually said, rather than just getting stampy-footed when people pointed out how gratuitously offensive you are being.

Don’t post that shit here, especially behind a blind link.

I’m offensive? That’s a laugh, re- read your post mate and think again.

A simple  “it’s rubbish” would have sufficed.

May I politely say, that my opinions are not just my own. Also, they are not offensive – that’s your opinion.

What I find offensive, is being referred to as a ‘guy’ whenever my OH and I go into a shop or restaurant.

Usually beginning with “Hi guys!” be assured that I have mentioned it – very politely.

This whole gender thing  is,  I suppose, a sign of changing times which many of you feel happy with.

To quote Princess Anne; “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

Can’t remember when or why she said it. May have had something to do with Commonwealth.

Well, it must be my age, because many of our age group feel as I do. It doesn’t offend me, it makes me laugh.

It’s the people who prefer Actor for a female, and  being referred to  Miss or Mrs. who are offended.

I am married, therefore my title (on every form) is that of Mrs. Why  people are offended by this is beyond me.

If I hear Mayor I think it’s a man. Very confusing when it’s a female. The same applies (in my book) to all the other

titles which are being changed to the male title. Isn’t that sexist? How strange that these females who are so

determined to stamp out sexism, decide to use the male title? Perhaps they would prefer to be blokes? Or perhaps

they should make up their minds what exactly they are.

Oh well, I shall carry on using the correct titles, everyone else can do what they like.

It’s terrifying what fire can do. You sound too close for comfort. These ‘kids’ lit the fire on purpose and being the woman I am I’d do more than slap their wrists!

The damage and suffering they have caused. Homes lost, innocent animals burned to death. They should be made to help the Fire brigade fight the fires, then pick up the dead animals whose death they are responsible for.

    Hello to you.

Peter Capaldi was very popular with some  and disliked by others.

I never had a favourite until he came along, then it was HE who  was my doctor.

There is no ambivalence on my part about a female Doctor, it’s all wrong.

I feel that Political correctness played a large part, using regeneration as an excuse.

As the rest of the forum knows well, I have never like JW anyway, so to me it was insult to injury.

I too had a fondness for Tom Baker, and most of the others, the only actor I didn’t like was Paul McGann.

@thane16 – syzygy   I think Dr Who was confronting Missy? With Capaldi’s Doc? All the monsters could be a hard lesson in life, the monsters a back-drop, a good portion of the time.  Chernobyl is on our order list having been nudged by not 1, not 2 but 3 close mates. I don’t know very much about Lizzie Borden, Missy: that’s pretty scary though. Are there a few movies out about that part of history, then?  (also, Missy, not sure if I remembered your birthday! Apologies if I have -although it’s good to hear it again. I’m posting, so if I look at the Activity feed I’ll lose post. Don’t want that)

Thing is, the monsters were fictional.  Scary – some of them – but not real. Chernobyl IS real. I’ve seen enough suffering to last me for the rest of my life. Give me fiction every time.

To be fair, stories such as Lizzie Borden, although true, I find fascinating, and yet recent TV expos about Charles Manson and his moronic family make me shudder.

Yes, you have just remembered my birthday *grins* I didn’t expect you to. I trust that yours was a good one.
