Yes, thank you for this. I haven’t posted on here for quite a while, and forgot that links don’t automatically expand into previews.
I look forward to seeing many of you tonight at seven-ish, or tomorrow catching up.
21 March 2020 at 13:02 #7019923 November 2018 at 18:40 #65872Happy Doctor Who Day everyone! ๐
19 November 2018 at 17:03 #65781I’ve just realised that the Doctor was originally chosen to be the caretaker. Of course – she’s done the job before! ๐
17 October 2018 at 00:50 #6458613 October 2018 at 17:09 #64436Guess that’s why they moved to programme to Sundays, too. Seeing a Northern train on a Saturday at all would just be too confusing.
8 October 2018 at 15:11 #64270Oi! Spoilers!
7 October 2018 at 20:24 #642171. I really, really love the theme tune.
2. Graham’s speech at the funeral sounded a bit like a homage to Peter Capaldi to me.
3. Tim Shaw is trending on Twitter.
7 October 2018 at 18:39 #64210Hello everyone!
So nice to see all the familiar faces back in the room with the large TV.
Now let the fun begin!
10 … 9 …8 … 7 … 6 …

23 January 2018 at 23:01 #63034Sorry, I’m messing up the links today.
I’ll try this:

24 March 2017 at 23:28 #55858Yes, but I haven’t managed to see her myself, yet. Have you read the blog about the other nest?
It’s been an exciting few days – both are back at Manton Bay, and at Loch of the Lowes, too. And one at Loch Garten. And…
*sigh*
Why oh why did you post that link to the Dyfi last year?!? ๐
24 March 2017 at 18:54 #55856When you click on the little padlock at the bottom of the chat it will stop updating and you can catch up. ๐
Let’s hope for a proper popcorn season this year!
24 March 2017 at 17:49 #55854They’ve been testing the cameras all day, luckily the live stream was just on when she arrived. A few camera problems now, though. Do you follow the chat there?
24 March 2017 at 17:22 #558526 July 2016 at 08:40 #53122@mudlark @all
Sorry, I’ve messed it up again.
I’m aware that the Dean is of course the head of the faculty, not the department.
Not that it matters a lot, but it’s definitely taught me never to post again when my brain is already in bedtime mode. ๐
6 July 2016 at 01:52 #53114Hehe, language fail.
“You beat me to it” was what I wanted to say. ๐
6 July 2016 at 01:34 #53112Thanks @mudlark , you’ve beat me to it.
Except that the “Professor” doesn’t make him the head of his department, but the “Dean”. But I’m sure that was just a typo caused by exhaustion and bewilderment. I know how you feel. ๐
5 July 2016 at 21:20 #531084 July 2016 at 01:42 #53069What your friend is talking about is river dredging. There are indeed people who think that dredging rivers would have avoided or eased the effects of the big floods of 2014 and, to a lesser extend, of December 2015.
However, there are also quite a lot of people opposing this view, our Environment Agency among them. I refer you to this article
I’m afraid I cannot cite any article stating the opposite view at the moment, but you’ll find some of their arguments in the comments.
I’ve also heard people saying on Facebook that it was the EU who forbade the dredging, but given that there were ongoing discussions after the floods if they should dredge now or not (I think they even did something in the end, but I’m not sure), and these discussions never even mentioned the EU, I’m not quite sure this is indeed the case.

19 September 2015 at 00:25 #4286928 August 2015 at 21:59 #42092Oh, and this one is for @jimthefish , as promised…
28 August 2015 at 21:13 #42090It was indeed a most lovely evening! ๐
A big thanks to Mr and Mrs @jimthefish, @wolfweed, and above all @scaryb for being so welcoming.
Only downside: more than three weeks to go until the re-watch! ๐ฎ
22 July 2015 at 13:07 #41350Thanks @jimthefish
To be honest, I wasn’t really expecting a suggestion – just my clumsy way of announcing that I’ve got a ticket, too! ๐ (There’s a reason why I usually don’t write any posts… I’m just rubbish at it!)
A clever colleague of mine suggested getting a ticket for the night bus, which is probably what I will do. Only need to cover a few hours until the first train back home goes in the morning anyway… ๐
PS: Apologies for being off-topic
22 July 2015 at 10:56 #41348Can anybody here recommend a reasonably-priced accommodation in Edinburgh for me to stay at for one night on the 27th August? ๐
1 January 2015 at 00:15 #36762Happy New Year, all you lovely people of this wonderful place!!!
Not related, but what about adding some comedy to our Capaldi retrospective?
18 December 2014 at 00:57 #36265@Purofilion
As it should be, Christmas definitely brings out the child in me when it comes to TV/DVDs!
An absolute must every year is the Muppets’ Christmas Carol. So beautiful, and so funny.
Then there’s the Italian series from the 90sย Fantaghiro, which was on German TV every Christmas and Easter for years. It looks pretty dated, now, but the first episodes are still quite lovely.
The Last Unicorn, which I could only appreciate as an adult.
Recent additions to the Christmas list are Watership Down and The Wind in the Willows (Cosgrove Hall version).
This year, for some strange reason, I’m thinking on doing a little Buffy marathon. After all, when I moved to the UK a few years ago with ten moving boxes, and had to leave 95% of my stuff behind, the Buffy DVDs absolutely had to move with me. ๐
Oh, and – Giles, yes. And Oz. And Spike. Oh yes, Spike… ๐
13 November 2014 at 19:09 #35466Cannot quite decide where to post this – here or in “Fan Creativity”… ๐

8 November 2014 at 23:07 #35066I might have missed something, but could it be that now we don’t only NOT know the bad news Clara wanted to tell Danny, but also the bad news Clara wanted to tell the Doctor? Probably the same thing?
29 October 2014 at 00:51 #3425824 October 2014 at 01:54 #34044A song from Pippo Pollina, my favourite singer/songwriter.
For @htpbdet , whom I still miss a lot.
14 October 2014 at 06:16 #33534Thanks @scaryb!
Just to post something that’s the total opposite of Tom Waits (and because I just happened to listen to it when I read your post), here’s another song that asks “Should I stay / should I go”.
Oh, and look, I’ve chosen the incredibly cheesy version with three Doctor Who actors in it, from BBC’s marvellous Blackpool. ๐
5 October 2014 at 23:04 #33075Thought I’d contribute a song, for a change…

16 September 2014 at 01:44 #31842Hmmm… the “LISTEN” on the blackboardย at the end of the episode doesn’t look at all like the one at the beginning.
Sorry, can neither provide screenshots nor a nice bonkers theory with this (“continuity error” is all I can come up with… boooring… now you know why I’m usually only lurking).
8 March 2014 at 04:18 #26230@purofilion
Not so much a song asย a video in your honour
29 January 2014 at 00:05 #24840@scouttheairedale
Very sad news.ย But rest assured that you, your brother and your mum have many friends here on this forum, who miss you and who will keep watching the stars together with you these days.
13 December 2013 at 14:52 #22737Has the Anchorman clip already been posted here (shown in cinemas before the anniversary episode)?
(Sorryย in caseย the link is not working. I’m stuck with some fairly dodgy browsers at the moment).
7 December 2013 at 13:20 #2235123 November 2013 at 22:32 #21296Now, that was fun!
Lots of girls with Baker-like scarfs in the audience, some 10s and 11s, plenty of fezzes, sonic screwdrivers and Jammie Dodgers, and two couples with the girl in a TARDIS dress and the boy as the respective Doctor. Noughty puns, go away!
Loved John Hurt.
Favourite lines:- ‘ the one that regrets’ and ‘ the one that forgets’ (yes, I’m easy to please with cheap psychology)
– ‘timey-WHAT???’ ๐
Gratulation @timeloop! ๐
Might have been the only one in the cinema who was actually crying in the end – mainly because I couldn’t stop thinking of our beloved @htpbdet.
Will have to catch up with all your posts, now, and then it’s time for a re-watch while treating myself with a big mug of mulled wine and a pack of Jammie Dodgers. And I don’t even like Jammie Dodgers. But hey, it’s the Day of the Doctor!
23 November 2013 at 22:16 #2129322 November 2013 at 21:02 #21175Cheers Everyone from me, too!
Hope you’re all having a gorgeous time.
